just got my insurance bill!!!
i went from an 04 lancer ralliart to a 06 evo IX SE and my insurance went up $15. looks like now its around $80 vs $65 per month for the RA. kinda sux, they told me before i bought it that it would only go up $7/month. i think i'm gonna call and see if my truck can be listed as recreational due to me only putting less than 4000 miles/yr on it.
is $80/month about the same as others in my age group, 36yrs old, no wrecks, last ticket was 7/92???
bone

Boy this thread has really started something now. First of all $80 is a fair price for a family guy with kids and at the age of 36. Most older people have cheaper insurance...like you guys didn't know. They are less susceptable to be wanting to race their cars with the wife and kids as passengers. Secondly I hear a lot of whining from the teenagers with freakin EVOs and some with MRs no less!!! You should be happy that you even got the car. They tell you how much the thing cost, how much the maintenance is going to be and the insurance but you still get the thing and now you are complaining!! For all the 25 and below with the EVOs you are young males (maybe some females) and you have a fast car (so you are susceptable to racing in the streets - unfortunately due to the retards who've already done it and caused you the insurance hike) so insurance is going to be a biotch..get over it; a suggestion would be to just try to find a cheaper rate somewhere else (good luck).
No idea what it breaks down to but mine is:
Full Coverage on the Evo for my fiance` and me
Liability on our 98 Civic for both of us as well
Coverage for my R6 for just me
Insurance: 140 a month
I'm 23 with 3 tickets ever: Speeding (thought it was 45, turned out to be 40, so they got me for going 51 in a 40), Noise (completely stock system on my SRT-4. Not even an upgraded HU), and Negligence (accident which was my fault)
My fiance` is 24 and I don't know how many tickets she's had. i know she's wrecked like 4 cars, and got caught speeding, and running a stop sign and a couple others. We got lucky.

good post
Guys--this is ridiculous. None of these quotes are really apples to apples.
Like I said before, location plays the most significant role in determining the base rates, after that it's your personal demographics (age, driving record, training discounts...) and then the vehicle's (symbol, safety rating, discounts...) and finally the setup you have on your coverages. If you have the state minimums, and higher deductables--then your insurance will be lower respectively than if you had higher liab and lower deductables.
Also, "full coverage" is not a term we really use in insurance. That was something used by consumers to say that they have both liability and physical damage (comp and collision). But that's not "really" full coverage unless you're properly protecting your net worth.
Oh and for you kids saying "17,18,19,20... w/ a clean driving record" -- guess what? You're still being surcharged/rated higher because of your age. The clean driving record is good though because it would be through the roof if it wasn't.
Long story short--if you're young and stupid--it will cost more. If you live in MA, PA, TX, NC it will be higher by location than if you were in HI, VA, ME for example. The car is in the high 20's for it's symbol, and it has a suck-*** safety rating.
Any questions?
