just got my insurance bill!!!
yea, insurance for you young guys is crazy. my 18yr old step son's insurance(liability only) for a 96 honda civic is almost as much as full coverage for my EVO, 04 xterra and 96 F350 added together. crazy. i even get good rates for my Hayabusa. i'm wondering if they can see the need for speed addiction with an EVO and BUSA on the same insurance?

0 tickets 6 accidents(none my fault) have been in about 15 accidents all together. I have the name bullseye for a reason.
And 3 total losses that my insurance had to pay. 1 due to a flood. 2 due to tire failure and the wrong time.
I am 23.
I have been quoted 114 a mo same coverage for a IX.
And my crossfire is 85 a mo.
I have multiple car discount and good student discount. Which I lose in 6 months.
Graduating.

Guys--this is ridiculous. None of these quotes are really apples to apples.
Like I said before, location plays the most significant role in determining the base rates, after that it's your personal demographics (age, driving record, training discounts...) and then the vehicle's (symbol, safety rating, discounts...) and finally the setup you have on your coverages. If you have the state minimums, and higher deductables--then your insurance will be lower respectively than if you had higher liab and lower deductables.
Also, "full coverage" is not a term we really use in insurance. That was something used by consumers to say that they have both liability and physical damage (comp and collision). But that's not "really" full coverage unless you're properly protecting your net worth.
Oh and for you kids saying "17,18,19,20... w/ a clean driving record" -- guess what? You're still being surcharged/rated higher because of your age. The clean driving record is good though because it would be through the roof if it wasn't.
Long story short--if you're young and stupid--it will cost more. If you live in MA, PA, TX, NC it will be higher by location than if you were in HI, VA, ME for example. The car is in the high 20's for it's symbol, and it has a suck-*** safety rating.
Any questions?

bhasdha damn that's nothing man... Although I'm now finding out that Geico is the worst insurance company for evo rates... I'm 26, married, live in Kansas, both me and my wife have one ticket on our records- she had a license suspension for not paying a idiotic ticket (non moving violation- not even sure that effected rates as it doesn't show up anywhere on our paperwork) in time. I drive an 04 evo, she drives an 03 lancer ex and we pay our 6 month premium is like $1693 for 6 months - which if done monthly would be like $282 a month.
We'll be looking at a few different places once the renewal comes up in March. Luckily I have a cousin-in-law who is an independant insurance seller for several companies. We'll get that monthly poayment down. But man, I love those Geico commercials.

I'd sell the car in a heartbeat.
34yo -- 1 racing on the highway ticket -- Home and Multi car -- no claims or accidents -- $465 for 6 months.
I have AMFAM and they allow me to assign my tickets/points to any vehicle in the household. So I assign the points to a 97 ford probe with just liability and the crappiest coverage ever. They also list both my vehicles as pleasure vehicles.

Word.
If I was paying that much, I'd do the same - sell my car in a heartbeat and wouldn't even think twice.
I pay $426/6months for my Evo in New Jersey which is known for high insurance rates.
i went from an 04 lancer ralliart to a 06 evo IX SE and my insurance went up $15. looks like now its around $80 vs $65 per month for the RA. kinda sux, they told me before i bought it that it would only go up $7/month. i think i'm gonna call and see if my truck can be listed as recreational due to me only putting less than 4000 miles/yr on it.
is $80/month about the same as others in my age group, 36yrs old, no wrecks, last ticket was 7/92???

You crack me up... My insurance costs over $2.5K per year for a '05 MR, '03 Maxima and '92 Miata with high deductibles on the first 2 and only liability and comprehensive on the Miata.... Oh yeah, I'm over 60

I wish my insurance was $80 per month........
I feel ya, I am 20 with a decently clean record and have quoted ever insurance place in WA and the cheapest I can get is $360 full coverage with higher deductibles. One weird thing I dont know if it was mentioned but I priced out an 06SE and an 03 GSR and the 06 was like $40 a month cheaper
