I did my first at 2000, 2nd will be at 5000, each subsequent will be every 5000 unless I really have a beat-on-it day.

4 guys at work have brand new BMWs.... 330i, two 550's, and an X3... they change every 15,000 mi. Engines designed for synthetic shouldnt' need to be changed more often than 5000mi unless there's real heavy driving

Depends on your driving style. I change mine every 1.5k or every 3 monthes.
The one thing ppl dont understand is that its the amount of start-up and shut-downs and not really the miles or time. Example I drive my car about 10 miles total daily so my miles are low, but I still start up and shut down 5 times a day. I my not hit the recommended oil change intevals (3k) for 6-8 monthes! Hard driving(track days) or short distance start-up and shut down is harder on your motor then long distance trips. I know the MObil1 or synethics in genral are suppose to protect your motor in all driving conditions, but I dont chance it. Hence I change every 3 monthes or 1.5k.

How do they have a brand new 330i? I though BMW only made the 330ci now.
Meh 2006 isnt brand new any more =[

^^Nvm lol me and my narrow minded self didnt think about dealers still having them brand new. I took b"brand new" too literally

Anyways

IMHO, changing your oil before 3k miles is a big waste of money on a daily driven car. I'm pretty sure the oil isn't even near its usage life at that point.

I'll be changing mine every 4k.
