Okay, my driving habits would probably cast me in the severe catagory so I need to change oil every 3750 miles and I have 53,000 miles on my odometer. So, that would be 3750, 7500, 11250, 15000, 22500, 26250, 30000, 33750, 37500, 41250, 45000, 48750, 52500. Whew! I'm 500 miles overdue for an oil change.

I cheated and did this on paper because I ain't ever gonna be able to do this in my head. Suggestion: change oil at 2500 or 3000 miles and save a few brain cells from an early death.

Yeah, me too. And by 3000 miles the oil in my car is looking plenty ready for a change. So, I have a hard time understanding why people want to go 5000 miles. I just wanted to show how if you go with a figure like every 3750 miles how complicated this gets when the mileage builds up.

About a month or so ago I spotted an '04 WRX on the Dodge lot and bought it for my wife. She's trying to learn what goes on in the garage so the other night when I was out tinkering on her car she wanted to help. I suggested she check the oil. The next thing I know she was adding oil - adding a lot of oil so I decided I had better check. Well, she had it about a quart overfull.

Now this car was serviced at the dealership, new oil and filter less than a thousand miles ago. I got under and drained some out and looking at that oil I decided to drop the rest. It was black. Her driving had been all short trips in cold weather. This was the evening of Christmas day with nothing open so the subie got an Evo oil filter - fits fine.

One day I was in a machine shop and I noticed a guy working on a 4G63 block. So, trying to make conversation I asked, "What sort of oil do you recommend for this engine?" "Clean oil.", was his reply.

I have noticed a way better mileage now after a oil change with Mobil 1 and a tank fill up in Chevron. I dont know why maybe im driving more conservatively
