as mentioned, i stated very clearly that i have total respect for the evo and after reading through this forum and other sources of information am most likely to be buying one. i was looking for some objective feedback, this was not an attack on the evo, i must have phrased the question wrong as there seems to be alot of defensive remarks.

I suggest getting the Skyline.

Do yourself a favor and at LEAST look up "Lancer Evolution" in wikipedia if you haven't bothered searching around...and as others have said, either go test drive or go search (then buy)...it really is a damn shame if the owner knows absolutely nothing about the car

Raising the question on whether the Evo is a "Performance car" makes us all think that you do not know what the car is, or its pedigree. I suggest re-phrasing your question to something more specific.

1) run's 13's stock
2)handles incredibly
3)Looks far more aggressive than typical family sedan
4)Other strengths sacrificed in order to give better performance (comfort, luxury, bells and whistles)
etc etc..

You Decide.

Check the slalom (cone dodging) numbers in every Road & Track mag and you'll see that only the EVO and a handful of other higher priced vehicles can hit over 70mph (don't know what that is in kilometers which is what I believe it is in Australia). Oh, and go on streetfire.net and watch an EVO chase a Lambo Murcielago into a spin.

The evo is an all around performance sedan. When people hear performance car the first thing they think about is straight line power. I,d rather have an all around performer,0-60,qrt. mile, braking, handling, etc. etc. The evo is definetely a performance car!

what is a sports car? two doors, hatchback? that sounded like a civic. two door fastback, rear wheel drive? in that case the answer is obvious.

but if you consider a sports car, a car with racing heritage, you could prolly get a civic and with some contrived fanboying try to convince people of it being a sports car. (technically it is the winningest fwd roadrace/autocross/drag car in history).

but some people don't concede that the japanese make sports cars at all and only germans and italians do. once again in this case the choice is easy.

if a sports car to you is something that is purpose built for going fast. then yes the evolution is a sports car. if you want blaise eyed creampuff girls to get in your car and get the **** scared outta them. yes the evo is a sports car. if you want those same girls to think you have a big ***** or at lest a big wallet to make up for any lack of the aforementioned fallacy (punpun) then............... once again your choice is easy.

do us all a favor and by an M3. If youd like to find out whats considered a "sports" car insurance premiums are usually a great place to start. I think youd be happier in a nice Holden Monaro.

I'd like to think of it as a "street rally car" I love the performance, I love the exhaust, I love the pedals, I love the Recaros seat, I love everything about the Evo. I'm deeply in love with the Evo. This is the car I adore the most.

Thank you.
