i started getting a faint whine in late august and by early october it was so loud i had the radio at like 25 and could still hear it. turned out the t-case was cracked. so if u get the death whine, just chaging ur fluid may not fix it. i got it fixed by mitsu under warranty, cost me $0...if u do take urs to mitsu, make sure they put the proper fluid in. they are notorious for putting tranny fluid in when u need lsd gear oil. tranny fluid is like motor oil consistency while lsd gear is kinda like honey thickness. as long as ur mod list isnt too extensive, and ur mitsu service manager isnt a ****, they should take care of it free. they even knew that i had aftermarket clutch in at one point prior the problem (had a stocker in when the t-case pooped out), and they still hooked me up. gl

What fluid did you use for the TC? Also the TC doesnt take very much fluid(less than a qt) Any metal shavings in the fluid?

Whining sound

Wow let me tell you about my whining sound I had after leaving Meineke. They forgot to take off the rubber oil filter ring and car ending up leaking all the way. They had to fill my car twice with regular oil in order to make it back. This place is garbage. They are located on rt 18 north bound side in east brunswick. Stay away! I left with a check engine light on. but thankfully car runs fine again. They had the nerve to be upset that I asked for a refund.

i know mitsu uses diaqueen LSD gear oil which has been fine for me since the new TC. there was no questioning whether the job was done right. whining was GONE after service...not decreased or quieter, totally gone. i dunno about shavings cus the old TC was trashed and i never saw it or asked about it. im pretty sure redline makes lsd gear oil...royal purple prob does too, but i think this stuff is kinda hard to find, and pretty expensive. if u have a mitsu place youve gone to before that u somewhat trust, and that isnt retarted like most near me, id take it to them. like i said tho make sure u specify oil for limited slip diff. and if they arent really sure what ur talking about, that should tell u enough right there

the TC also requires a straight 90 weight gear oil. this is where most of the aftermarket companies(redline, royal purple, etc.)gear oil doesn't measure up to the diaqueen.
