installed HKS RS

ok.. so this is offically my first mo on the car... (2months old)... and i gotta say well worth it... if people are looking for that loud blow off valve type sound... get the intake... it's sounds so amazing... and it keep my rpm's high too... like before i used to shif and they would drop from 7-5.. now it's like 7-5800... or 6 not too sure... but it sounds so good... amke the car sound much more agressive... my next plan...is a manual boost controller probably the one from turbo XS their dual stage boost.. so i got the switch for daily driver and weekend chiller... and a exaust... not sure between a TBE or Hi- power... both from HKS... opinion's welcome... thanks guys...

1) Tons of people have or had that intake, so there are many threads on it already.
2) We know it accentuates the BOV sound, which is very annoying
3) It should never be installed without a tune
4) The RPM thing makes no sense whatsoever, and I can't see how you'd consider that a good thing
5) The TXS MBCs are terrible
6) There should be no difference between your daily and weekend boost. Octane dictates your boost levels, not where you're driving. If you don't want to boost as much at a given point in time, then don't floor it all the way.
7) An HKS exhaust will cost you a ton and give you no extra power

Welcome to EvoM.

I have HKS also, just about any cone intake would give you that loud sound. As far is MBC, I would personally wouldn't suggest the Turboxs.

If you really want more than one adjustment then get a Profec B EBC. It will cost you a little bit more but you will have a full control over two boost setups.

If you decide to go with a single MBC then I would suggest the Hallman or the Forged/unos.

Welcome to EvoM.
Here I edited his response to fit my thoughts

1) +1, including myself.
2) To each his own. I like the sound as well.
3) True if you want power and better drivability out of your investment after spending $299 (and you should), but not going to hurt the engine.
4) +1
5) Don't have any experience in TXS but Hallman would be a better buy and is proven. I run the AEM Tru-Boost and like it a lot... so far.
6) +1
7) +1 Plus its really a 2.75'' unit. You can get a nice 3" unit for far less.

Please do the following:

1) When you're a newbie, use the newbie forum
2) Read the forum rules before posting
3) Notice that the forum rules say to use the newbie forum and to SEARCH BEFORE POSTING NEW THREADS

Asking why you need a tune for an intake is a forum crime punishable by death via firing squad.

i also would not recommend that boost controller. i would go forge mbc.
i have this intake as well. and i simply love it. i ran it without a tune as well and had no problems.. but then i got a tune and its nite and day. i got alot of other mods to but still. it will help. as for the exhaust. well its up to you. pipe is pipe man. only thing that is different is size and bends. make sure its true 3'' and has no neck downs if there not needed. 99% of the tbe made for the evo are all bent simular to each other. get the one YOU like the most. some are cheep and some are not. its all up to what you want. have fun and welcome to evom.

Dan, pipe is not always just pipe. Many times, it is, but you have to ensure the quality of the metal itself (it's not all the same, quality of the flanges (if it has flanges), quality of the muffler, and quality of the welds. You don't want your cheap exhaust rusting or falling apart over time (not saying all cheap exhausts do this - my Megan didn't).

I bash people who don't follow the rules. You broke the rules, were shown the rules, then broke them again...twice. Experienced people answer in the newbie forum, too. Only I do not answer there, and that's good for noobs until they learn a few things.

oops no you are right. i did not make my self clear enoff. i ment pipe is pipe if its all 3 inch and all bent the same simular way. i did forget to add though that the quality from pipe to pipe is something to think about.
