Where are you getting your oil changed?

My mitsu dealer is 15 miles from my house... and they claim it takes an hour if I were to wait for an oil change....blaaaa

He claimed I would void the warranty if I did not have a "certified evo tech" do the oil change and it has to be mobile 1 and it has to be a Mitsu filter.

Screw that. Heres what you do:
Buy a Genuine ****shubishi oil filter and save recepit
Buy a case of Amsoil Full Syn Turbo forumlated 10w30 and save receipt

Change your own oil! Get to know what the underside of your engine looks like, look for leaks, look for rubbing lines, basically look at everything! Changing oil is fun, and it gives you a good opportunity to get familiar with your vehicle

it won't void the warranty, just keep service records... but you MUST use Mobil 1 or you will void your drivetrain warranty...

i get mine done at the dealer, but i take my own oil... they probably charge like $7 a quart or some bull****...

yup, 100% BS. All you need to do is document your oil changes are you are fine. I would recommend using OEM oil filters & Mobil1 though. OEM filters are generally the best, and Mobil1 is an excellent motor oil.

Change mine in the garage, maintaining receipts for the Mobile 1 and filter, and logging dates/miles. If a dealership has an issue with this, I will be happy to introduce them to my attorney.

Ya, el knuckle-head-o claimed it was in the owners manual that it had to be done there, etc....... I will read my manual at lunch to see, but I think I would be happier doing it myself at home.

I personally would prefer to do my own changes. But if there is any risk of running into warranty hassles....then I would probably opt for letting the dealerships change it. Even if they do shaft us on the price. I personally thought the pitt pass deal was a complete RIP. To this day....my dealer is still giving me crap about it. Sorry...but a $100 oil change and tire rotation should not cost anywhere near that much. I could care less about their 29 point inspection whatever. I could do that stuff on my own.

I understand keeping receipts, computer records on your own is a good way of tracking from your own perspective.

But...what stops a dealership from saying....well....how can prove your actually changed the oil every 5000?

The manual should have cute little pictures (all Japanese manuals have cartoons for people ) showing where all the various parts are.

In my driveway. Logging each change in the back of the book. Not even bothering with saving receipts. Never been any issue with any of my previous cars...
