OEM dealership part prices are just ridiculous!!!

I need to replace the brake pads on my EVO, so I been shopping around. Found some good deals, but I just had to know what it would cost me if I bought some brake pads from my local stealership, I had a ball park figure, but even I couldn't have imagined this. They told me it would cost $262.00 for brake pads. I was thinking, oh wow, that isn't that bad. Then they said, $262.00 a piece . Wow, I should have known better, I remember when I first bought my EVO RS and was interested in getting the spoiler, they qouted me $2,000 for the spoiler a lone . It is safe to say have no plans, on ever purchasing products through the dealership

Yea,

I just called my local dealer for proces on plugs, pads and rotors.
front rotor is 224.67 each
rear rotor is 216.35 each
Pads are 260 for the front 260 for the rear.
Plugs are 20 a piece. They are NGK ILFR7H.

At my dealer ship if you are a DSM member you get 20% off. At least its something.

I always tell the dealer I'm buying parts from that I work at So-n-So dealer (which I do, but does not have Mitsu') and they ALWAYS discount my stuff. It's kind of a brothership thing I guess-LOL

This isnt nothing new the dealership is always going to rape you on parts. They make them up on a avg 40% of the real cost.

They don't call them stealerships for nothing.

Them apart from Spin, who is smart enough to realize there is a NATIONAL market for fair priced goods. Most dealer will only sell what they install. Silly business model, I think.

I just had the brake pads replaced (50,000 miles). I took it to a local shop here in Fresno. They got the rear pads without any trouble from their local supplier (about $10 each). It's the front pads that they couldn't find anywhere. They called 7 suppliers and NONE of them had the right size. They finally called Fresno Mitsubishi and they had one set of front pads in stock. They cost (drumroll please) $320 for the pair. And this must've been the wholesale price of the pads. . I was told that only Brembo makes the ceramic pads for the front. So the total cost (parts and labor) was $550. The mechanic made the following two comments to me. "I haven't seen front calipers this big on any car before. They are as big as those on a full-sized truck." "These are the most expensive pads I've ever seen. They're way more expensive than BMW or Mercedes and those owners whine a lot about the cost of their brakes." Ahh, the joys of Evo ownership

If they were small and cheap, we'd all complain about how small and cheap they were and how could Mitsu do such a thing.

Can't have it both ways I guess.

i got raped with front brake pads too....but i got a 30% discount from south coast mitsu since i'm on socalevo (just tell them that mike and they'll give you 30% discount on any oem parts, oil change = $39.99)

anyhoos my oem front pads had a piece of rock stock in it (didnt know so had the dealer do an inspection), and since the car was on the lift without any brake pads, i had to get the oem pads otherwise i couldn't go home....yea it wasn't pretty, sh*t.
