installed boost gauge reading 15/16psi, ideas wanted :)
hey guys, even tho i only have an VIII, i only boost like 15-16 in first gear. 2nd is 16-17, 3rd i get 17 and 4th and 5th 18. not every evo is gonna be perfect. maybe try different brand gas? and also check that intake snorkel issue warrtalon has trademarked
This is a great forum that I have been browsing for months, but man there are more harsh people on here than I have ever seen on a forum. The guy asks about low boost, and gets picked on for having an APS BOV, then basically gets called a liar about why he purchased it. Lighten up people.

When people questioned why he'd brought one, I think people are just trying to gauge his level fo understanding.
Putting on a bov because it was cheap, might lead people to the conclusion that "DIY" advice is not a good idea, rather that 'take it to an expert' advice would be better.
At least that's how I read the thread.
What are the symptoms if you reversed your vacuum hoses on your boost controller?
I notice that it peaks up to 21 lb + after adjusting the boost knob and drops back down quickly, shouldnt the boost stay at a certain psi depending on the knob adjustment or do I have my hoses wrong? the mbc doesnt have an in/out depicted on the casing of the mbc

Usually, if reversed, you will see max boost with uncontrollable spikes, but I already told you that in the other thread...
No, the boost does not stay up. This is a basic tenet of how our Evo works, and you have apparently not being doing your research. It's called boost taper - it happens to all of us, because the turbo runs out of breath at high rpm.
So, based on this last comment about hitting 21psi, your other thread was null and void because you didn't bother trying to turn the boost up before posting your "help me" thread? Bah.

Evom is fine, they answer your questions, and throw in their 2 cents on top, nothign wrong with that. I can remember Zilvia about a year ago.....now those guys could be a bunch of **** holes.
hehehehe thats what I like about warrtalon (believe it or not we all know eachothers "virtual" character and personality, its quite similar to their personality in real life just alot more pronounced since its online and alot more freedom in speech).
hes straight up, he knows his **** about evos even though his is not heavily modded like others but for the most part he does answer everyones question but has to add a sentence or two of bash time to relieve himselve from seein newbies all day long
.
I work on computers all day long myself, and when a customer asks me a stupid *** question about "how do I save a file" i look at them bash on them inderectly with double entendre and then answer their question. If warrtalon or anyone else asks me how do I set a jumper cable on a harddrive so it can be master, ill call him a nooblet and ask him why does he even have a computer if he doesnt know howto use it. or why would he watercool his pc if he doesnt even know what type of performance gains he would be getting. Anyway....
warrtalon or someone else that can help finalize this dilemme, I finally adjusted my boost 19 psi peak, but its weird because im still pushing 19lbs psi but when i shift I dont hear my bov release excess air, but at 15psi I hear my bov release air.
very weird because even though im hitting 19psi while accelerating, it doesnt feel like its boosting even those its 19lbs and im shifting make sense?

SEEnoEVO, I agree with you about some people on this forum. But i think honda-acura and honda-tech were probably even worse. Seems to be a more mature group on this forum and definitely just as helpful as honda-tech.
I have no clue how to set up a jumper cable on a harddrive so that it can be master, but seeing how this takes up a negligible percent that most people spend on their computers and that I have never had to do this I hardly consider this piece of knowledge so key that I you must have it in order to "know how to use it".
