1st gear question

So, my car only has 585 miles on it. I've been doing the whole baby the car for 600 miles for break-in thing. I only really didn't baby it twice. Once during the test-drive and once at about 200 miles where I went up to around 6,000 RPM for a couple of gears to get out of traffic.

Throughout the past 400 miles, I've noticed that every now and then, when I come out of first gear and into second, it feels as if first gear kind of "pops" out of gear instead of "sliding" out of gear. Every other gear is fine. I can slide in and out of 2nd - 5th gear. I can even get into 1st gear just fine, but just every now and then (more often than not), it feels like the gear is popping out instead of a normal "sliding" feeling like in every other gear...

Anyone know what may cause this? I thought I may not be pressing the clutch in far enough for first gear, but beyond pressing in the clutch for a few seconds and then switch, it doesn't matter. If I'm trying to shift normally, I usually get the pop feeling.

Well, mine seems to do that throughout the drive. I of course let my car warm up before I leave, but work is about 20 miles away and even all the way up to work, the thing is still kind of "popping" out of place at times.

Sometimes, if the clutch is not quite all the way to the floor by the time I start pulling my car out of 1st gear, it "pops" out.

Yeah, I think it could be just not paying attention. I mean, it does happen when I'm just casually shifting through the gears and I'm not paying attention... It's just always first gear and never any of the others. That's what I thought was weird.

People are way too paranoid about these cars. If you nit pick every strange occurence with your Evo you will go crazy. Lighten up.

You're still under warranty, don't worry so much.

This seems to be a common thing on evo's, Many people on the board have told me to swap out the soft mounts the tranny sits on and replace them with harder rubber or even urethane mounts. As soon as I get my front motor mount in I will let you know if it helped the 1-2 shift.
