My experience with South Coast doesn't relate to gas cards.

I had my car shipped to me in NY using Dependable Auto shippers, which South Coast recommended. I put full insurance on my car with my insurance company and opted not to buy insurance offered by DAS. Car came in with a dent on the hood that was due to shipping company. Dent took paint off and went right down to the metal. I called and complained to DAS, they told me to take it up with my insurance company. I called South Coast to speak to Mark and Mike Shriner and see if they could get this resolved due to their relationship with DAS. This happened back in June and I'm still waiting. The car also had a bad scratch on the trunk and scratches on the drivers side.

Yeah I know I saved thousands of dollars buying thru South Coast and I really shouldn't be complaining about the damage to my hood and trunk right?

Car was also impounded because the temporary Cali license plate wasn't correctly filled out. My title wasn't handled correctly and I had to wait a month and a half to register the car after repeated phone calls and complaining.

Once again, the thousands I saved was worth sitting in the back of a cop car watching my car get towed away and then having to go to court to fight 2 b.s. tickets while missing 2 days of work. Plus I had to pay the impound and towing fees.

IMO, it wasn't really worth the hassle of these 2 items. Once I signed on the line, it seems like South Coast could care less if I was truly happy with my purchase.

Who cares anyways? I LOVE MY CAR! Thanks Mark!

I know..a promise is a promise....but come on. this isnt something worth getting pissed about. now if he promised you 4 tires and only gives you 3 well by all means raise immortal hell.

Answer this question: Would you have paid the extra 2.5-3k that you saved in turn for your $20 gas card? I think not....thats what you call nit picking. It's a black dot on a white page. Look at the big picture

If you expect every "promise" to be fulfilled (especially in sales) you're in for some disappointment in life. I understand the principle of it, but to try to start a smear campaign on Mark M./SouthCoast is .....DUMB.

If you don't expect people to live up to their word and just sit back and take it expect to get screwed over a lot in life.

It's not a smear campaign, it's someone failing to live up to their word and nothing more.

I walked on a car deal over $120 once. Principal > Price.

I don't give a **** if the $120 was completely insignificant in the overall price of the car, I agreed on a final price, and they changed it. They can rot for all I care, I'll go somewhere else.

You can't blame the DAS thing on South Coast. They have DAS as a resource, not as a requirement. You can use whoever you want to ship your car. I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, I used my insurance AND paid for DAS insurance and it arrived without a scratch.

As far as registration, I transfered my plate and the TN DMV was great. I surrendered my title, wrote a check for taxes at $2100 (that sucked), and was back in the car driving inside of ten minutes.

Mark was great the point is when a promise is made stick too it, everytime i called i got mark is at lunch, or he is not here today, or he is sick, so after that i finally did what i did, the gas was not even worth the hassel, but come on $45.00 to a dealership that just made $33,000.00 on a car sale makes the customer happy, overall i am happy and would buy their again

Here is the big picture:

Promise unfulfilled
Multiple evo owners not getting gas cards
South Coast Mitsu "forgetting" to mail the gas cards and pocketing the money

To further illustrate the big picture for that tiny mind of yours, please empty your pocket of your hard earned $20 and send it to the original poster. Do that 100x to illustrate how many people got short-changed.

Riiiiight, now that black dot of yours just turned into big wad of cash.

Lastly, why don't you identify yourself as a friend of "evolution_4_all" aka Mark M.

Car salespeople are 90% scumbags and 10% poor, honest people. The gas thing has always amazed me - even more that people fill out surveys on crappy dealers with "perfect" ratings just for a tank of friggin gas! On our car it's even sadder with its paltry tank size!

Be honest on the survey - say what a scumbag they are and forgo the $30 bribe they are thowing you people. Don't ever fill a survey out for anything other then what you believe just because they offer you something. You're just allowing scumbags to keep being scumbags.

Having said that, I'll probably never buy another new car and let someone else pay for the mad depreciation in the first year or so, as I did with my VIII, so I'll hopefully never have to deal with another car salesperson.

The only place I ever got a good salesperson was in the Acura dealer in Orlando, FL. Don't remember the guy's name (back in 2001) but he was a stand-up, no BS guy. When I had to bring the car in for some simple maintenance thing I got a loaner. When I was filling the loaner up with gas to return it, some idiot in a pickup truck backed his huge trailer hitch into the grill of the loaner. Turned out the dude hadn't paid his insurance, then said I hit HIM even though I was parked filling up with gas. The sales guy paid to have the car fixed out of his commission.

That either tells me I paid too much or he pulled that out of his rear, but either way I didn't have to make a claim on my insurance and that was worth everything.

That guy got a perfect rating from me on his survey.

Having said that, I have no idea about Mark or his dealership - just a rant and story to share.

I bought my MR from Mark at South Coast. 100% honored his word, smooth transaction, no problems.

I understand your point if a gas card was promised you should get it, but personally I wouldn't have worried about it if everything else with the transaction went smooth- the big picture. If you show up to buy a car and he ups the price that you agreed on over the phone, then complain he's a liar/crook.
