There will always be something better and faster next year and the year after that....Either way, you can't go wrong with one or the other.

I would wait then. Well no, I wouldnt wait, but if you cant decide, its not like the IX's are going to dissapear once the X comes out.

If you want to mod with a reliable engine, I say go with the IX. If you want to be one of the first guinea pigs with the new engine go for the X. I was making the same decision about a month ago. I managed to get an EB IX. I don't regret making that decision to get it either. If I were you , and you wanted to get the X I would wait at least a year and a half to two years before I start doing any mods to it.

the x is gonna be a lot more expensive than the ix, that may play a factor in your decision making

no prices have been set yet

op: dood ur so close. it will be another year before u know it. its almost february! u might as well wait unless u really need to buy a car to get to work and school, which it doesnt sound like it.

evo 10 is closer than ever; yes its the first year - but some people dont care. they say that. they say the previous year/ gen is so much better but cars are still gonna get sold. wait to test drive it and see what u think. i highly doubt there will not be a single new evo 9 when the ten is out. that is imo but this isnt a toyota so..

a year is just such a long time...and because i do want to do some mods, the X will put this back even further. im pretty keen on the IX at present and then if im lucky, i can get the X in 2-3 years? gonna go work out my finances and see if im ok. exciting!

VIII 's need cams to make the power IX 's make without cams so IX's make the power easier but strength and durability they are the same so it's a matter of choice.
VIII cost less so there is more money for mods but IX makes the power for cheaper

Personally I'd never by the first year of a new model. If you are that worried, lease a IX & then get the X when its up.

and then later on you can sell it privately or trade it in for the Evo X.

OK, here's the deal...There will ALWAYS be someone out there who is faster than you. I have one of the first 50 VIII's brought to the U.S. I know the IX's make better power with less money. That's just the way it is. I've thought about trading up for the IX several times, but there's something incredibly cool about having an VIII. It's the same type of feeling one must have in having a VII. Sure, the VIII is faster, but you own a piece of the Evolution legacy. You can't always be looking ahead to the next model, which of course will be faster and better looking (IMO).

I would highly recommend you go with the IX and mod it, as you have already stated that is one of your goals. The X will be incredible, in both performance and styling, but that's a long time to wait for the car and subsequent parts to upgrade.

I think the comparison was between the IX and the x, not the VIII.
