Swapping HID with Halogen.. possible?
this may sound wrong but screw it...
my dads tracking in his range rover friday for a new truck, and i was wondering if its possible to take my bulbs, ballasts and whatever else is attached and swapping it with his. so i basically have HID's.. they probably wont find out for a while and after the deal is done what are they going to say?
basically my question is.. are all these kits basically the same where i just hook up the wire to the fuse and ground it...
cheers!

Fist off are his HIDs projectors? If they arnt, your gonna need new bulbs for your car, if it all works out.
Your car doesnt not have ballasts, those are only used in HID aplications. If you took everything out of the Range and had time to retrofit it into the Evo, yes it would work. But i think the most complicated part would be trying to get hallogen lights to work in the Range. Its def. NOT plug n play. good luck tho if you can pull it off, what year Range?

The guy who had originally bought my evo (the first owner) removed the bulbs and ballasts from the headlights and stuffed h7 bulbs in their place. He very ghettoly wired in the normal bulbs into the headlight harness.
This is not fun for the person who buys the car and doesnt realixe that the HID's are missing until after the papers are signed (that would be me).
I would say dont steal your dad's HID's. The size of the bulb is going to be different anyway, its much smaller than a 9006 bulb which iirc is what non-HID equipped evo's come with.

Yes, as long as you have some fabrication skills. That's why I'm selling a set of HID projectors/bulbs/ballasts in my sig. It's VERY possible.
The thing you may have to worry about, is how long and big the projectors are. Not all projectors are the same, so I can't comment on ones from the Range Rover.
I'd do some more searching on http://www.hidplanet.com.
I've retro'd projectors in multiple cars, and it's really not that bad, even if you aren't mechanically inclinded. Toughest thing is just to mount the projectors in you evo housings. You may have to create your own mount, or use the existing mounts (if possible).
There's already 2-3 guys on here who have done this, and I'll try and dig up some links for you if I can.
Goodluck!

EDIT: nevermind, i see that you are just trying to use the bulbs and ballasts from his ride. Screw everything I said!
DO NOT DO IT! Its gonna be more work than its worth. Just buy an aftermarket HID kit that will plug right into your Evo halogen harness. They work really well, search and you will see.

hmm might be pretty complex.... im debating to just buy the kit from the bmw dealer for 500.
