Just got back from AMS in Chicago
First of all this post is not directed at the creator of this thread but at the general viewing audience of it:
This argument has been beat to death as of late on this board.
I understand the need to compare HP numbers but you CANNOT compare dyno numbers against different dynos even if they are the same type of dyno. People say that our dyno reads low. It doesnt read low. We just calibrate it so that it reads correctly.
I wont go into things and poke at other shops that have numbers that read higher. All I will say is, Take it to the track!
You will see that these supposed high numbers dont yeild the same traps speed as our "low" reading numbers.
The site in general gets better every day when it comes to this problem but we still have a long way to go. As I tell every customer that comes in here. Dont look at your peak numbers. Look at what you gained.
we can play around with our dyno to read more in touch with what other shops on here do, but why? AMS doesn't work that way and we never will

You're comparing your numbers from a different dyno and somehow you *think* it's relevant.
It was my car that put down 275 whp stock on AMS' dyno and it trapped 105.6 mph (usually 104-105 mph). Use that as a reference.

I agree 100%. I started this thread just to share what i got and to inform that i am VERY impressed and pleased with what AMS did for me. I dont care if peole say my numbers are low or if they say they are high. As i posted a few back " i am very happy with my results. I would and will recommend anyone to go to AMS. I will always be a loyal customer of Buschur Racing and AMS performance.
Thank you again to everyone at AMS and Buschur Racing for all that you have done to help me and my Evo 8.
hmm, interesting. You gained 20hp/tq from retuning a custom tune alone, so that is great. It is nice to have the piece of mind knowing that it is not your tune.
Did you let ams know that you plan on throwing in c16 and cranking the boost for the drag strip?

Your numbers are right around normal for that Dyno. A couple of my friends have been dynoed at AMS with the same mods and have been around the same numbers. Dont listen to other people comparing their numbers from other dynos(which isn't even relivent). It is true that AMS's dyno isn't as high reading as most people would like to think but like eric said, its calibrated to read correctly. That being said I am more than happy with my results on AMS's dyno.
Those are good numbers from the AMS dyno, man. I had my car tuned there this summer and made 310/320. A little more torque, but I was running higher boost in the midrange. I had a 3" exhaust, 264/272 GSC's, Walbro, drop-in (don't run it anymore - junk), tuned on UTEC. I don't have adequate boost control in the upper rpm region with the UTEC (didnt use the ABC), so I was tapering off similar to a stock evo.
I talked to Martin about it the night I picked up the car...he was leaving late after the shop was closed and I happend to catch him. He told me the car did fine, and 310 whp was pretty close to right-on for my mods. He said 320 tq was really good. I think I remember him saying cars with all the AMS stages on it (including FMIC, intake, LICP, etc) dyno in the 330 hp area...so the fact you made 310 with a cat means your right on track. Don't sweat it, if you go through actual AMS results in their forums, you will see that AMS has the heartbreaker of Dynojets compared to others on the east coast. Its nothing to worry about, if there was something wrong with your car Martin and AMS would let you know. Their work speaks for itself. Not to mention they were more than accomodating to me when I dropped my car off late. You got a fast ride tuned at one of the best places in the US...congradulations and enjoy.

Those numbers looks ok @ 20 psi. I had my old 04 evo8 dyno'd @ AMS & made 309whp & 317wtq. This is @ 22 psi with turbo back exhaust, intake with maf pipe, 264's, 255 fuel pump & base flash by Al in 93 pump gas.
I went to AMS in Nov for a retune and I put down 342whp and 321wtq. I was really really happy with my numbers.
I have a 03 and my mods are 3inch TBE (test pipe), HKS intake, 255 fuel pump, HKS evc, GFB bov, HKS 272s, AMS fmic, AMS licp.
