Thunderhill meet [long]
Thunderhill meet [long]
Hello all,
Was at Thunderhill raceway yesterday, but missed the track day today due to work, sponsored by the Z club and Works.
Met the Works bunch of guys there, real nice and informative, but they were tuning and setting up the coil-overs for the track today, didn't get a chance to drive it, but was shown the various products that was being offered, the catback is almost stocklike at idle, but really screams at WOT during the slalom runs, i like it!
The new 18" rims are really kickass, along with the 265 kuhmo 700's they were running, looks tight, really fills out the wheelwells, almost make my stock rims looks too puny!
I will try to stop by the Works place when i get a chance to find out the real truth to their ECU reflash, big bore throttle body, etc.
David still would not say what the increase in hp output is, what a bummer
Also met Snorre and his son from San Rafael Mitsubishi, a really nice fellow, and an ex-racer too!! Found out a little about the next factory upgrade
, and they were driving a red EVO with all the aftermarket factory parts installed, the slickist being the factory gauge pack mounted where the radio spot used to be, really really nice.
During the skidpad portion, i noticed that our evos really stick and stay in line, whereas all the various Z's, bmws, porsches, etc tend to run wide, with the rear ends breaking traction.
During the slalom, get a really good chance to get to feel how good the handler our evos are, just point and go, except once, i jumped on the gas too hard and clipped a whole bunch of cones
I really wished that i can stay for the track portion and to see for myself how the Evo behaves.
The whole thing is really a blast as i finally explore our Evo's capabilities, i would seriously advise everyone here to go to autox, car clubs and various SCCA activities to further better ourselves as the Evo limits are so high that i doubt anyone would want to explore it on the streets.
And thanks to David at the Works and the Z club for the invite and hospitality

Wow.. sounds like fun. I would've been there to check out WORKS products for the helluvaofit if the drive doesn't take me 2hrs. to get there. LoL!
Glad to hear how the Evo did on the cones. I'll be at Thunderhill on the 20th of June for an HPDE event and can't wait to try the Evo out.

We will be back at Thunderhill next Saturday (the 31st) for the kick-off of the SF Regional Rallycross series and hope some of the local EVO owners will join us for play time off the track! Let's get those EVOs dirty!
