What suspension mods (including brakes) have been made to that silver Works Evo with the stickers?

Any camber or toe changes?

Any problems with heat and/or overheating while on track?

How did the brakes hold up?

How did the tires hold up?

Thanks in advance.

We actually ran into problems with one of our brand new Kumho V700s ripping a big chunk of tread off the tire before we ran into any problems with brakes (although, ironically, we had brought extra rotors with us just in case). So, I guess the answer is we did OK on the brakes, not so good on the tires -- which, obviously, were not stock.

No problems with overheating (despite the 90+ temperatures) and the WORKS ECU tuning preformed flawlessly on pump gas even under extended boost running the car for literally several hours on end without a break until the front tire came close to shredding.

We were running our WORKS coilovers at the track, and ran with several different camber and ride height adjustments as I recall (not sure about the toe) before we found a setting that provided the flat but relatively neutral handling that we were after.

A fun and rewarding weekend, overall, made even more so by the wonderful camaraderie of the Evo enthusiasts that joined us for the event.

It was a pleasure meeting you, Wilson. Not to worry about missing the actual track day -- we'll be back at Thunderhill on Saturday for the rallycross. We will be back again with our car, and look forward to having some fun in the dirt for a change.

DavidV@WORKS: What are the spring rates for both stock and WORKS coilovers?

Do you have any ideas of the exact camber specs you were running front and back? How did the different camber configurations improve your total track numbers and/or on-track driveability?

The reason I ask is so that I could get an idea of how the Evo reacts to suspension changes.

Thanks again.

Also, some tracks require it to keep the lens together in the event of an impact (cleans up off the track quicker that way).

Good point David. He also has them covering his fenders to help protect them in the same manner mud guards would.

I was supposed to be there and instruct but I got the WORST allergies in my life the night before . I heard that the day was a real success.

I have some questions as I am seriously considering buying an EVO in the next week or so (while one can be snatched at MSRP.)

1) DavidV@WORKS, what are the EVO stock spring rates and what sprint rates do you guys use in your coil-overs? (Repeat of a previous member's question...)

2) Also, what lap times were you guys running?

3) Did you use camber/castor plates to adjust camber/castor/toe or you just maxed out the stock config?

4) Does your ECU have an option to switch between 91/94/100 octane on the fly? In other words, can it store more than one map so users can switch between 91 (normal daily driving) to 100 (track use?)

5) Were the tires shaved? How come you experienced chunking?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Nick,

(1) Spring rates and valving are still being finalized based on the results we saw at Thunderhill this past weekend.

(2) We didn't time our laps before we ran into problems with our tire coming apart. We had planned to run some timed laps in the afternoon, but the tire failure prevented it. Still, we got some good feedback from Lauchlin O'Sullivan both about what he liked about our coilover set-up, and also about where we could make some improvements.

(3) Our coilovers utilize adjustable camber plates. These were tuned by our engineers both before and during our sessions on the skidpad, slalom and track.

(4) The WORKS ECU does not have a toggle option. However, it is designed to accommodate race gas if needed. What I found impressive during our track session is the fact that we were able to run the car for hours on end, lap after grueling lap, in 90+ degree temperatures on 91 octane pump gas, and the car made incredible perfectly smooth power without so much as a hiccup, ping or stutter no matter how hard we drove it. Phenomenal!

(5) The tires were at full tread depth, although they were properly heat cycled prior to running them at the track. Running them at full tread should have been fine, but obviously, in this case wasn't. I have no idea why we experienced chunking on one tire (the others were 100% fine). It may have been a manufacturing defect. I'm just glad no one was hurt and the car was not damaged when the tire began to come apart.

What kind of harness did you install in the evos and where did you mount them?
