BSPT for sure. I purchased one just to measure on a comparator. NPT will work but requires a decent amount of sealant and you risk damaging the casting.

BTW, it is mos def NOT 3/8 NPT, 1/4 NPT is the proper size should you go that route. I think 42 Draft designs sells a kit or adaptor to install senders in that location.

Yes. Buy the 42draftdesigns adapter and save yourself the headache. It is BSPT.

okay so it's 1/4" BSPT then? I have one adaptor already from 42DD but I was hoping to do the install tonight along with my oil change...anybody know if Lowe's or Home Depot carry these?

do not do it. Get the right fitting, or you can just wing it, and pray for no leaks.
Noone in my area carried any BSPT. Maybe call a local tuner shop.

It is BSPT. I could swear the drawer I pulled the pieces out of was NPT, but it was indeed BSPT. I still think I used 3/8 because I went by:

http://bolsen.homeip.net/oilgauge.htm

Of course I made it work with the specific senders I have.

You want 3/8" BSPT
1/4" NPT is the other alternative which is not encouraged.
