New Escort 9500i
I've used V1 for about 4 years now, but some of those features are looking good.
I like the ability to "mark" hotspots and filter out annoying stores that I pass by everyday.
The only thing I don't know about is it having the direction indicator (arrows).
That's the one feature that I love about the V1.

im loving the GPS feature, but what if the cop is parked right next to the building, I wonder if the radar would ignore it because its close enough to the source that you have muted. I also dont like the price tag of almost $500.00 dollars.
Did you not read the write up ? This is probably the most important feature it does recognize the difference.
Read about the chip/technology and see what it can do.

I think you're confusing two different technologies. By itself, that SiRFstarIII GPS chip isn't capable of uploading your location data anywhere. The reason it works in the example you provided is because the chip is integrated into a cell phone. The cellular network is two way, so it can take the location data and upload it over the cell network.
GPS doesn't upload. It's a one-way street. Unless this radar detector has some other mechanism for transmitting data (integrated cell, wi-fi, etc.) than you have nothing to worry about.

someone is paranoid
