Service question

I stopped by the Mitsu dealership yesterday morning for an SRS issue, after all that was taken care of the advisor asked if I wanted to get the Fuel Injection and carbon build up cleaning and motor flush for $140 (as per the 20,000 maintenance), and to let him know when I take the car back for the warranty claim (seat belt is 'defective')... just wondering if it's really worth the $140 they're asking. Oh and it's about $200 if I want my Mobil 1 back in it.

There was one guy here that paid $1200 for a brake job. He realized his mistake later. Most of the time also sucks at doing services

It's nonsense and just a way to make money. I would personally run seafoam through the car. 1/3 bottle through bov hose, 1/3 bottle through gas tank, 1/3 bottle through crankcase(but change the oil after 50 or so miles to get the gunk out of the there. Some people just put a container of techron stuff into their gas tank and call it a day.

Where do I get a bottle of this stuff (seafoam)? How much do you get and how much does it cost?

I second the Seafoam recommendation, I have used it in my EVO once and my Land Rover a couple of times

Alright. Well that will save me about $170, probably more.

There any other suggestions for maintenance at 15k?

That isnt the mitsu dealer's fault. If the customer asked for a brake job at the dealer and didnt specify that he DID NOT want the pads thur mmna, then 1200 is cheep for a brake job. The only pads offered by mmna is by brembo only, no value line pads.

How can you possibly have carbon build-up this early in the life of your car?Do you drive 3 miles a day everyday?Buy some jectron made by lubromoly and pour it in the tank,it takes 1 minute then drive the italian tune-up style and your done!

any local autopart store should carry seafoam (autozone does for sure). Mitsu has different service intervals for heavy and light driving though. I remember for heavy driving it reccomends you to change all diff fluids (tcase/reardiff/tranny). Look in your owners manual it's all in there.

I have the regular and severe printouts but they say nothing about injector cleaning,anti-carbon, or anything of the like.
