in the honda world theres are countless of 600+hp cars running $150 ebay intercoolers. It just a matter of time before evo owners get smarter and eccept ebay intercoolers.

anyone that spends $500-1000 on a exhaust or more than 100 for a licp is an idiot
when in fact is mearly a U bend with a few welds on it . anyone that can change their oil can make a licp for like $50 or less

the only people that hate ebay are companies and shows because simply ebay sell many quality parts that no one can match for the price and also ebay sell name brand parts that also most shops cannot match in price.
I work for a locally owned business, so I like to support independent local business - in this case its places like PPI AMS etc. To each their own. Lots of people go with what is the least expensive, functional application.

Furthermore, put whatever the hell you want on your car. Your car, your rules. I don't walk around looking at doods all day saying "man I'd never wear those shoes - they're pretty fruity."

Ebay companies don't care about quality and don't put any R&D into products. That's why you should pay more and buy from a vendor that cares.

ok here is an idea....
First off, i do agree that its b.s. that a company like AMS has to deal with this but i'll tell ya what until i see some sort of PROOF, whats to stop me from buying this IC? I have seen so many threads and posts on here bashing this intercooler, bashing even from the vendors on here like AMS, etc (which I guess is understandable). If you say you KNOW that your companies particular intercooler or exhaust is so much better and you wanna flame someone who has a knock-off, have someone from your staff get on ebay and buy the ****ing intercooler and PROVE IT TO US. Im not talking about "yeah well we tested them and ours is better" SHOW US THE **** results. I bet if you were to do something like that and actually prove yours is better, it may actually stop people from buying items like this. be proactive instead of sitting back whining and *****ing about it. Yeah we all have a good amount of trust in alot of the vendors on here, but when it comes down to it, you are all salesmen and want my ****ing cash. Im sure dropping $150 on an intercooler to test and have proof to back up your words isnt going to dent your pockets that much. If I had the cash, I would definately get an AMS, BUSCHUR, or ETS IC, but the fact is I dont have the money to do that, and If its good why not buy it? Im not trying to have the "best" evo out there on the road and I know im notthe only one who can say that. And all this talk about "support your American companies" is flat out hilarious...YOURE TALKING ABOUT A ****ING MITSUBISHI!!!!! Are you all swinging that damn hard?

If you vendors dont want me to buy an ebay intercooler, SHOW ME WHY I SHOULDNT, dont tell me, because without the facts, you are just a salesman to me no matter how much I respect your company and what you do...

The first intercooler i bought for my IX was off ebay. As soon as i opened the box i smelled a foul stench. As i reach in to pull the intercooler out of the box (that wasent even bubble wrapped or anything, its was just jiggling around in there) i found cigarette butts at the bottom of the box. There was like 2 pieces of newspaper with brown smears all over it. It wasent even doing enough to protect the intercooler from getting bashed up! I was so upset i tried to contact the person that had this huge store on ebay that sold it to me. After a few weeks of research i found out the seller had been arrested for child molestation. I mean WTF? i was soo mad because after i tried putting the intercooler on i could only boost like 6 psi, little did i know there was a hole in it the size of a quarter under the intercooler piping flange! EBAY FTL !!!!

My confidence goes with Buschur, AMS, and all the other EvoM vendors!! PROVEN RESULTS!!

Ok no doubt for sure BUT not everyone has tons of money to spend on these cars....personally i WOULDNT get the EBAY brand but you really cant blame an EVO owner for spending peanuts on at least what looks like a decent IC. Not everyone can shell out 5X that much.

The real question

EBAY didn't make the intercooler, so who did and how easily will it be to get a hold of that company when it fails. If it's built by a reputable company that will back it up, then yeah it's a great buy. How do you know some company sold them to EBAY cheap because there was a defect in the manufacturing process? Yes, it may look really good, but did you inspect the internal welds and do a pressure test to see if they will hold or how much it pressure it will hold. How long will it last.

You basically installed a part on your car that may or may not have been tested to a certain level of standards.

On a sidenote, if it's cheap enough you can just keep replacing it everytime it fails. (Me being facitious). I'm all about reliability ernald711.

Do you have a grasp of the level of understanding of mechanical engineering that's required to effectively design an intercooler?

wow.... so your willing to spend $200 every so often plus shipping (maybe), and the hassle of removing your front bumper and installing, instead of something that's worth $600 to $1200 installed once, and probably backed up with a warranty. not to mention failing parts could result in damage to your motor, but then again it's your motor and not mine.

i'd go for quality/reliablity anyday. i pay the extra $400 or so for peace of mind, and not because it has a fancy brand name. the only reason peeps buy the JDM parts is because most if not all the big brands acutally test their products and its proven on the track. now if a smaller company shows me that, i'll invest in their products. i.e. i stand behind the ETS intercooler because it is quality tested, track proven (on an almost 1100whp evo) and not too expensive.

remember you can only have two of the three: Reliability / Inexpensive(Cheap) / Fast , though its not black and white.
