Just got my New ACT Clutch and flywheel!

Chutch and flywheel are getting put early next week. Special thanks to Steve @ Nolimit for the hook up on the clutch. I snatched the Flywheel off Ebay for 250$ Shipped ! The ACT Flywheel is the Prolite (10 lbs) and the clutch is the MB7 HDSS. I am having a local DSM shop install the clutch for me at a super price! I did extensive research and this is what I decited to go with. ACT has a good Rep in the Evo community. I will update here after the clutch and flywheel are installed.

You made a good choice. You can't beat this setup for the price.

How good is the quality on the Flywheel? Is it safe to use? What does the Stock Flywheel weigh?

I have that same clutch getting installed next week. I got mine new from a guy on here that never installed it for $380 then I spent $22 bucks to have a stock flywheel resurfaced. Good as new! Im looking forward to getting her in and seeing how it performs...

It's forged chromoly steel,so that should speak to the quality, and it's one piece unlike aluminum flywheels. It is also thicker than the OE unit so it should be durable against warpage. It is SFI certified (important if you're concerned about safety). The stock one weighs 13.8 lbs IIRC and ACT makes two weights 13.1 and 10.1 lbs. Read down to the 4th post on that page for more of the same info.

Nice, I was gonna use the stock flywheel but I really toasted my stock one. It didnt catch till 6K. I know it got the flywheel really fuggin hot. So I got the Prolite...and I got a killer deal on it. Its about 60 bucks to do a resurface a flywheel around here....so I just kinda put that money toward the new flywheel. I cant wait to get my Evo back. It has been down since Nov 1st

i launch plenty of times with it and since it is noticable shorter, i rarely burn it like i did with the stock one. Ive had this setup for about 10k miles now and it is still as strong as day one.

Let us know how it turns out. I'm in the market for a clutch and like to see how other people's reactions are to different types and maufacturers.
