Has he done cams on an Evo before? If not, than 8 hours is about right, its the common quote here too... If he has done cams on the Evo at least once or twice than it shouldn't take more than 5 hours, and that's if he's meticulous.

+1 ^^^

he might have overestimated too so that if he gave himself plenty of time and didnt end up overcharging you for labor if he went over...should take around 5 hours though if he's done an Evo before, a little longer if he hasnt

cams do absolutely not take 8 hours to do. done and helped do it multiple times now and it's a 2:45 minute job if you know what you're doing and a 4-5 hour job if you're a retard.

This guy may me a great tech, and meticulous.... BUT I think he is either qouting high to make him look like a saint and give you a 3hr discount at the end, OR he's is qouting for how fast he works...(for example:.... (stoned) 8.75 hrs. , (drunk) 11.25 hrs. , (on crack) 47 minutes. ) You get the point...

thats crazy. i have the same st up and valve train and took 8 hours???? id say for cams and studs alone - 4,5 hours max!

any why are you removing the head to do studs??? whats the benefit unless you change gaskets. remember that with studs you can increase the torque by about 50Nm per stud compared to stretch bolts so the stock headgasket will hold just fine as long as you follow a zig zag patern and torque evenly as you move along.
