there seems to be plenty of opinion out there on this, but it always comes down to trial and error to prove what works and what doesent.

you take a chance either way. As for rushing jobs - get to know your tunes/mechanic first. eveyone claims to be an expert, but few really are. Admitedly im bad at spelling, but ive been involved in this for on and off for almost 20 years.

My installer (who builds desert rally cars here in the UAE for the One Thousand Dunes Race) takes around 5 hours to properly install cams. That said, I'd rather he take 8 hours if that is what is takes to do the job right. If anything, I never ever rush a job, and it always beats having to go back twice or more to get a new problem arising from a rushed job sorted out.

dang... i thought i was talking my time at 2 hours 15 minutes for a cam install. thats including bleeding the lifters, torquing everything with a torque wrench, and not using any air tools. oh and triple checking the timing by rolling the engine over by hand a few times and checking again.

5 hours to do cams they must be taking a coffee break or something every hour.

apparently you've never done head studs as they take like 5 minutes to do. you've got the valve cover off. pause the cam install, take out the stock studs. grease up the arp ones, stick them in, in the correct order, and torque them down. repeat 12 times. takes 5-10 minutes with the valve cover off. 15-20 if you don't know how to use a torque wrench
