Hey, it looks like the E36 M3 owners are at least thinking about the Evo...this thread shows how little most of them actually know about the car...Bimmer.org forum thread

Sounds like a bunch of idiots ranting and raving over the E36 M3. I love the comment one of the guys made over how the EVO needs newer technology. I guess they forget to mention how easily the Evo will whupp their cars w/ minimal mods.

Since when does pure performance factor in luxury? Seriously, 90 percent of the guys who contributed on that thread are dumbasses who "think" they're performance enthusiasts.

Hell, an S2000 is about as fast as an E36 M3. Now we all know how much faster Evo's are with slight modifications over an S2000. Gotta love the idiots on there who can't afford an E46 M3, who bought their E36's second hand and have the gawls to call themselves car enthusiasts.

Holy ****! That was the best uninformed, speculated, POS, mindless nonesense I forgot to mention. Seriously, I've driven both the E36 and E46 M3's and they come nowhere close to the feel the Evo gives as far as steering feel goes. Evo is by far a driver's car. The person who blurted out that nonsense hasn't driven an Evo obviously who's pretty much talking out of his ***.

There are times I wish the Evo's steering wasn't so boosted. Just something to get used to, just like AWD.

To say it's disconnected from the road is hooey though. More like, "point and shoot".

Does anyone here have a crate of clues to sell to those guys?

Nothing against any of the M3 models -- they are great cars, better than the Evo in some ways. But to dismiss the Evo as old technology, a copycat model, isolated from the road... Someone obviously doesn't know the score.

Well, I actually laughed it out when I was reading their discussion.

My advice to these poor souls...

"If you don't know/not sure on certain thing, do NOT comment on it like you're an expert"....

You guys all realize that what you are saying can also apply back to you as well.

As a BMW owner I know the value and performance aspect of a BMW. But I also know how much better the Lancer Evolution is than the E36 M3. Stock for stock.

But the E36 M3 was the best handling car in it's class for a very long time.

Let's not put all BMW owners in to the same category. I know there are others here who like me know and appreciate the EVO. Enough to have already purchased one or is going to purchase one.

you know what it's funny you say that because I saw a silver EVO at Laguna Seca last sunday.

in the intermediate group.

with my watch I clocked the EVO around 2min 5-10seconds depending on traffic.

there was a miata in the same group turning in sub 2min times.

If you didn't already know, it's the driver not the car on a track.

My friend in his 1992 miata with blown stock shocks and 190Kmiles engine in the advanced group passes turbo porsches, BMW M3 (E36 and E46) on the track on a regular basis.

Driver > car on the track.
