Thanks for your replies guys. That's what I wanted to find out. I don't want to do 2 tunes, as I'm planning on attending NASA events quite few times this year (at least 2). Now I'm really confused on what to do...

As far as crashing with alky in the trunk, to me it really doesn't matter, crashing with fuel in the tank is not as great either. I'm definately not planning on crashing

Why don't you want 2 tunes? I have 4 that I switch between using EcuFlash - it's simple.

Not having to pay the gouged race gas prices at the track is quite the cost savings, and I have a wideband right in my face as well as an indicator light on the alky controller in case anything goes wrong. To top it all off, I am not tuned to the edge like some people who run alky and don't race or who only drag race. I run non-max boost with a small nozzle (7), with low 11 AFRs, moderate timing, and low ramp rate on the progressive spray.

I do agree that if you can get a 100-104oct tune and can get around 30 gallons of it for a weekend without paying $6-7/gal at the track like they normally charge, then race gas is preferred due to lesser risk, but for someone who already uses alky on their car daily, alky is still a useful tool on track.
You said you run alky instead of meth, then what meth is going to do at the track?

Get the alky with a conservative tune and some form of failsafe. Then on track days use race fuel, it's added insurance

To be honest it's just too complicated for me . Since I have a whole load of parts on my car without a tune, I'm waiting for Al to come out here. I want a custom tune, but he's going to be here right before the event. I'm worried that I will just run out of time and miss it. Buschur has him come only once a month

There's nothing complicated about using EcuFlash and having 2 tunes. Al provides both without an extra charge, and then you load whichever one you need when you n eed it.

Oh, also, I do toss in a few gallons of race gas on top of everything whenever I'm on course just for added safety margin, but I do not retune for it or anything.

What about the gasoline in the tank?

Considering you'll have less than 1-2 gallons of 100% meth and about 14 gallons of 100 octane I guess in any sort of accident you are SOL.

Gasoline also has a lower flash point than methanol so technically gasoline is more flammable than 100% methanol, all that really means is that in the presence of flame/heat the gasoline fumes can ignite at a lower temperature than methanol.

Just make sure you have a good failsafe with your methanol kit and moniter the system on the track.
