Unhappy Another Evo destroyed

This guy I know just told me that he crashed into a parked Evo Sat. night. He was driving his full size Chevy truck, early 80's model, and drifted too close to a parked RX7 and an Evo that was parked in front of the RX7. I couldn't believe it when he forst told me. This guy was going to buy my 17" wheels and tires for his truck, oh well, some much for that. He is ok, nobody was hurt, but he feels real ****ty cause the owner of the Evo is a military person that just got back from serving in the Middle East.

Yes it does, the guys insurance said they were only going to pay out $10k cause he has liability only with a DUI on his record, so basically he's ****ed! He didn't say if it was $10k/car or they have to split $10k between the 2 cars.

10k split I'm willing to bet. More likely than not the owners will both sue him for whatever extra money they need and will win (which sucks for him).

Not likely. It was a parked car that got hit. No movement, no theft, no likely premium increase.

Huh?? There is vehicle DAMAGE Hobie...

Any time there is a replacement cost of repair of parts, SOMEONE pays....insurance companies raise premiums to cover these things.
Where does the money come from???

Do you think the insurance comapany cares whether the car was moving or not?

Hell, it moved when it got hit, didn't it?

My father's an insurance broker. I'm 99% sure of what I said, but I'll see if I can wake him up and ask him before I go out. Yes, someone has to pay, but the vehicle was not specifically targeted because of its make and/or model and it could have as easily been a bently or a '73 corolla. It was a victim of circumstance as opposed to a victim of negligence, abuse or criminal desire.

I realize that the EVO wasn't moving, but with all the accidents as of late, this is starting to prove to the japanese that we can't handle the cars, they give us a good thing and then we destroy it, just like children.

I sit corrected. According to my father the premiums are basically done by making a pot of all claims paid to any particular vehicle for any particular reason (regardless of fault) and then broken into categories according to age groups and other risk factors. On the other hand, he also said that it's extremely unlikely that you'll see a change in your premiums.

No, we won't see an increase due to THIS ONE occurance, but lookit how many instances of damage and what not have been put in the "pot" so to speak.. This "pot" is overflowing with claims on this board ALONE!!

The EVO will be one of the most expensive cars to insure..Mark my words.

Meanwhile, this is just the tip of the iceberg...
It will get worse before it gets better..

Still better than the WRX. I've yet to see an Evo in someone's living room (or back yard as was the case).
