How to get/store VP Methanol from a drum?

I just recieved my VP M3 Meth and it came in the usual 5 gallon metal drum. My question is, how are people storing the Meth/race gas after it the drum is opened. I assume they make a top you can put on the drum to seal it, or you can transfer it into seperate containers. But a top for the drum would be ideal imo.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

where did you get it from? I would just store it in a garage or some where kids can not get to it.

Keep the drum off concrete, put it on a 2x4" piece of wood.

Thanks for the insight. i do know about stting it on concrete and to keep it away from kids and not in extreme heat and where to store it. I was just wondering if most of you keep it in the drums or transfer it into portable/plastic approved containers?

I just want to seal it back up after I open the drum and would like to know what everybody is using.

I got the Methanol straight from VP east coast and they shipped it to my workplace. Not for the faint of heart pricewise, but i will eventually get a 55 gallon drum here soon and that will tide me over for a while.

METHANOL

M1™
M1 Racing Methanol has a 99.95% minimum purity - the highest purity available in the U.S. With M1, engines run cooler and are less subject to corrosion. VP uses only lined drums which prohibit rust, corrosion and metal deposits that can contaminate fuel delivery systems. Recommended for all methanol-legal racing applications.

NEW! M3™
Like M1, M3 Racing Methanol has the highest purity available, but with an extra boost. With special additives, M3 offers a wider range of jetting options, making jetting easier and more consistent. With better tuning and cleaner, more efficient combustion, M3 makes more power than any standard methanol on the market.

If anyone in the tristate area (NJ, NY, PA) needs VP Products please PM me. I just became a authorized dealer. I will be carrying C16, Methanol, VP Red, and Unleaded Motorsport 109.

Probably because concrete gets hot (absorbs heat) alot more than wood does.

Thanks.

That was my initial guess, but I didn't really think that people would store hazmat like this outside of a normal cool location (like any other combustible)...

Ok, We race a Methanol powered n/a SBC dragster and go thru 15-20 drums of Meth a season. The trailer is lined with fuel jugs you can buy from your local speed shop or jegs.com for race fuel purposes, not your regular gas jug. If you buy a drum, just be sure to screw the cap back on the drum tightly. It is hydroscopic, but if you are buying VP by the drum (which we do) it should last you several months.
If we have fuel left over from the winter down time of racing (usu. 3 months) we usually use it at the begining of the season if it was purchased at the end of the last season. This year, that was in Feb. Up to now we purchased 3 drums and keep them in the shop on the concrete floor.
VP is by far the best and we can't wait to try the M3....which will require some jet change if what they are saying is correct.
Hope this helped a bit
