well the drum does not have a screw off top, it looks like you pop the seal in the center, then you can store it in another container, which is what I will have to do I guess...

I was hoping for a lip or top for the drum that would allow me to store it in the drum, but I guess not..

Maybe you can put it in one of these..

I think something along those lines will work, although it would have to be not vented and air tight so as to not pull in air resulting in water getting added...

The 55 gal drum has a screw-in bung under the seal. I'm not sure you can get it in the smaller drums that nitromethane come in.
if it is the smaller drum, looks like you can buy a cap for it:

SQUARE PLASTIC JERRICANS:
(Available colors: Red, White and Blue)
ROUND PLASTIC DRUMS:
(Available in 9 colors, including Red, White, Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, Silver, Orange and Black)
NOTE: Because hydrocarbon fuel spills are believed to be hazardous to the environment and may negatively impact the ozone, VP Racing recommends using only our CARB-compliant spill-proof gasoline container for transporting and storing hydrocarbon fuels like gasoline.

REPLACEMENT CAP:
(Replacement cap for VP Round Drums and Jerricans includes hose adapter)
REPLACEMENT VENT CAP:
(Replacement vent cap for VP Round Plastic Drums and Square Plastic Jerricans)
DELUXE HOSE:
(For use on VP Round Plastic Drums and Square Plastic Jerricans - requires replacement cap with threaded hose adapter)
