hmm...shutting hood disrupts engine?

hmm, on my recently purchsed used evo i noticed something. NOrmally i close hoods by pushin down on it after it clicks...but this particular time it was about..maybee 1 ft to 1.5 ft i let the hood go, and hte motor kinda sounded like it wanted to quit, or on the verge of, than it kicks in again like normal...

Mine was hitting the clamp on the UICP and causing a stutter when closing the hood. I just moved the bolt part of the clamp to the side of the pipe and problem solved. Could be the same thing.

I have a 2006 IX and it does that same damn thing. It does it every time I let the hood drop from a slight distance up. Just figured I wouldn't do that from now on, as I can't really see anything that the hood would be hitting. But now that you mention it I'll have to double check the hose clamp on the UICP.

Anyone else have an insight into why this happens?

It's probably causing the MAFS to get weird readings causing it to stumble, it happens all the time.

Its you knock sensor. The engine thinks it detects knock and tries to shut down the engine. Same thing happens when a really loud muscle car is next to you.

Same issue here. I have always wondered what caused that.
