If it makes you feel any better, I had a few scratches and **** on my car when I bought it (new with 13 miles) Told the dealer about the one I saw and they wrote up a paper agreeing to fix it in the next 30 days and that they owed me nothing else. After that I found more areas that didn't look so wondeful, but I couldn't do anything about it because I had already signed and agreed for them to fix the one spot without noticing the others. The only consolation is the spot that looked the worst buffed right out, but it's still got some scratches and chips that make me angry every time I look at them.

really blows that perfect doesn't mean perfect. I to would have believed an evo 03' for that price and miles would be perfect. I would recommend going after would you think you can get. The guy sounds pretty helpful. Tell him to pay the first 1500 towards your new paint. If you are really firm and demand a 5000 paint job you might be left with a dealer willing to play hardball and you will get 0. 1500 is better then nothing.

Perfect is subjective. He would have meant the car was perfect (mechanically) -- and just left that last word out.

Not only that, but it seems he's been trying to make things easier on you actually. He drove to meet you halfway, and offered to have the detail guys take care of things, and he helped you with the DMV by resending you paperwork to appease the state (it doesn't benefit him when YOU pay more taxes). Keep in mind he didn't have to do any of those things.

Long story short--nothing is "perfect". If he had put something more specific like "no rock chips or dings anywhere" than you'd have a case.

^agreed!

yes, that helped

and offered to have the detail guys take care of things,

as i stated, the wet sanding and buffing didnt work-nothing his detail guys can do for me!

and he helped you with the DMV by resending you paperwork to appease the state (it doesn't benefit him when YOU pay more taxes).

maybe I wasnt clear. I bought the car for $21,988 and he wrote the paperwork up at $24,203 and duscounted it to reflect the $21,988 price. The State was going to charge ME more for taxes due to the $24,203 price when I bought the car for $21,988!

Keep in mind he didn't have to do any of those things.

This is true. But I could say it should have said "normal wear" or something like that. Its all subjective!

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the '03 and '04 model Evos only carry a 3 year warranty instead of the 5 year ones we get from '05 and later models, so if that's the case then the factory warranty has expired already last week...

No, I already called mitsau and it has the 5/60K powertrain. Yeah, the bumper to bumper just expired like a week ago....thats why its in there getting s few small items taken care of.

When I get the car home I will take some pics and post them.

johnjonfenomeno, you are correct......its pretty cheap now.

Your only choice now it to try to make this situation a better one, you have to admit the price for the mileage is pretty good.. Your main problems are cosmetic from what I can read. If I where you I would simply go for that paint job you always wanted, and put it all behind you. Selling the car will not only leave you carless but also make you lose even more money. But before all of this try to get something fixed with the dealership. By the way if he canceled the auction on Ebay he might not be liable for anything he posts, because afterall Ebay won't make a dime from your sale.. so you're not covered under them if you decided on buying the car on your own. Someone correct me if this idea is not right.

You are correct about the ebay thing....which is what I was also getting at that he knew that there is the ebay "buyer protection" and maybe he didnt wanna deal with it. Or maybe he just cancelled it because it was pretty much sold and he was getting a lot of calls about it-I dont know for sure, but I know could be anything.

I am considering just having it repainted, it just sucks that I paid so much for it, although with super low miles! I am giving it all some serious thought.

This was a small dealer in milwauker called autosource motors. He told me he deals with a lot of porsches, although he still has a lof full of your average cars.

I am still really angry with him and myself for not looking the car over better, but you have to understand the situation! It was blowing and raining and I wasnt familiar with the area so I didnt know where I could go to dry off the car and look at it better! I know its no excuse, but I am still angry about it. The way I look at it, if the describe a car as "said" condition, you should theoretically be able to buy it without an inspection, but as someone already said........they like to forget things hoping you wont notice!!

I am still trying to work with the owner to come up with some sort of resolution, but we will see what happens. I guess I am SOL otherwise and forking out the $$ for a new paint job! I guess next time I will buy new or not buy at all!
i just bought a 2003 white evo from a prvate owner. got it for $22,000 with 28k miles on it. it sounds like you got a pretty good deal. but the same thing happened to me. it looked find when i bought it but when i brought it hme i noticed a few problems. the inside plastic on the front right wheel is all ****ed up. its broken and plastic is cracked. also under the car the front plastic covering under the engine is ****ed up to, with the same problem.

To me it doest really bother me, "thats what happens when you buy a used car"
