haha i dont really understand how the ebrake would cause you to get better mileage since it would slow the car down

It wouldn't make any difference. Even if you could detach the front and rear wheels you would still have to spin the rear diff and the drive shaft to keep the car moving, so all the pieces would still be spinning and killing gas mileage.

try rod millen racing, they took the from drive shaft out and plug the holes in the transfer case and built an evo drift car for F7F tokyo drift. I think they sell the kit for it?

BTW the manual says a lot of thing !!!!!!!!! OMG

take the wing off - less drag
gut the car - less weight
dont boost - uses less gas

dont drive with the e-brake up...

^ yea I dont know what this guy was thinking.

talk about more drag.. haha wouldn't the resistance of the rear drum brakes just burn more gas in the first place? i think so.

i know someone is going to say the ebrake doesn't make contact on the first click but that seems like a retarded idea either way.

Wait...Hold on....

I'm not saying to have the brake engaged while driving. I mean to fool the car by installing a switch to make it think the brake is engaged. Then it will disengage the rear drive through the acd. Thus running fwd on long hwy trips.

The car is still AWD when the parking brake is engaged.

My not very clear post about the rear ebrake friction linings was just to illustrate that the reason the manual says not to pull the e-brake while moving is because you'll burn up the ebrake in response to another poster. My bad for not being more clear, and it wasn't Sschmuve1 who even mentioned it.

But my point stands, you wouldn't be running in FWD, you're still AWD.

Go here: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/differential2.htm, and pay close attention to the "open" differential. The salient sentence is:

The open differential always applies the same amount of torque to each wheel.

So you're still sending 50% of your power to the rear wheels when the center diff is unlocked since when the ACD is unlocked, it's essentially just an open diff.

We know you dont know what your talking about. Ill repeat, it DOES NOT make the Evo fwd. The e-brake DOES NOT turn off the rwd. It changes how the ACD works. In this case, it disengages the ACD (so you dont fry it). Its still 50/50 spit.
