Yeah, I have to say, I don't see anything wrong with that bulletin. How could they be responsible for changes they did not engineer? The bulletin definitely sounds a little harsh but it doesn't appear to be written for public consumption.

Just my $0.02

I didn't buy it for warranty either. But, if my a/c fails or my powersteering pump goes out...I will never be convinced that just because my car is flashed and has basic bolt-ons that my mods caused the failure.

MMNA-ftl...I like Mitsubishi...love my Evo, but Mitsu N.A. sux!

We just had a guy in a couple months ago get a P/S pump replaced under warranty. He had full exhaust, I/C piping, the works. Hell he even had a track sticker on top of his fuse box! Fully covered...

Anything that SHOULD be covered under warranty most likely will be. There are some unfair dealers/reps out there, but not all are that way. Some EVO owners are just complete morons though. I put a clutch in an MR with 6,000 miles; owner said is was manufacturer defect. It was considered warranty until after disassembly. The whole process you could just smell the clutch before the trans was out. Soon as the clutch was out, abuse was written all over it. It looked like a damn lollypop with all the blue hotspots on the flywheel; the disc and pressure plate were trashed.

Most people on here seem to get it, but if you break something in the drivetrain, the car better be stock or you're gonna get denied most likely.

And THAT is the reason why I didn't get a warranty.

I am sure there are a few here who have been denied for a drop in filter, lowering springs or a catback. Don't think it's just Mitsu. either! I went through it with Mazda and all I had was a cold air intake and an axle back exhaust that I had purchased and had installed at the stealership. Warranty work doesn't pay them much and they don't want to spend their time doing it. RIP OFF!!!! I would be surprised if Mitsu didn't deny me for my only mod....after market cd player.

You have to understant if someone puts and Exhaust and the bumper melts they can't warranty it. Its clearly from the exhuast. But what rediculous is when you put in a turbo timer and they tell you they can't warranty the throttle body. Theres no way one could break the other.

I believe the 'magneson-moss'(?) act states that a dealer cannot deny a warranty claim if the broken/inoperable part cannot be directly related to a modification YOU made on your vehicle. For instance, if you installed a catback exhaust and your power-steering pump goes up, they cannot deny the claim because the exhaust wouldn't make the PS pump go up.

He's right...you just have to fight it and try to get why they are denying your warranty in writing prior to fighting it. This way you will have proof that they are out of line.
