Experience with mitsu service dept.

so i called mitsu in Little Rock today and i told them what my prob was and the guy says sounds like your clutch has kicked the bucket. then he says elp you can bring it and i can take a look at it...puts me on hold, comes back on and says well its gonna be before monday that i can work on it. i said umm ok. how much will a stock replacement clutch cost? he then replies with "o i'd say anywhere from $1400 to $1500 bucks"...............i ask if its covered under warranty since the car is less than a year old and i only have 7000 miles and he says any mods to the car? i say k&n drop in air filter thats all, he says nope u dont have a warranty anymore bud.............wtf should i do?

put the stock filter back in, as long as this is your ONLY mod. Then I still wouldent waste my time, they will under no circumstance do a clutch under warranty. They will just say that you are (as all evo owners) are agressive drivers thats why your clutch is gone.

K&n drop in filter shouldnt even void any warranty. Even on the K&N box itself, says its perfectly safe to use on airboxes.

but thumbs down to the dealer =X

This is from K&N Website and I have a k&n filter as well..

* High Air Flow with Excellent Filtration
* Designed to Increase Horsepower and Acceleration
* Washable and Reusable
* Will NOT Void Vehicle Warranty <------------------------------- NOTE: WILL NOT VOID VEHICLE WARRANTY.
* Lasts up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is required depending on driving conditions
* K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty®
* Emissions Legal in all 50 US States.
* Economical, a K&N Air Filter Will Last the Life of Your Automobile, Motorcycle, or ATV
* Works with Original Equipment Manufacturer Vehicle Electronics
* Easy High Performance Add-on
* Environmentally Friendly

In this case, if they do void vehicle warranty because of a k&n filter I would persue a lawsuit against K&N as false adverstisement, im calling k&n right now.... ok just called them but hours of operation mon-fri. i sent them an email well see what k&n says

Not likely to be covered since it is a wear and tear item just like brake pads, tires, etc. 7000 miles is quick though for the stock clutch to go. Mine has 29k and I am still on the stocker.

true to that

why would you go to the dealer with a drop in filter? if it was your only mod couldn't you have taken it off? :/

An after market filter shouldn't be a "mod", it should be "Taking care of the vehicle"

Just like if I put amsoil in my car, rather than Mobil1.

well this is my first manual transmission car, so it took awhile to get used to it, and yes i launch alot. I race on weekends at the drag strip....

second thing....vesendak, im not lazy...the box clearly says will not void warranty...which means you can leave it in, jackass!
