i believe socal evo forums had a thread about that and it turned out that the gear ratios are completely different and better on the 6 speed.

we swapped a SSL evo to a 6 spd tranny, he wanted the extra gear beause he does alot of hwy driving. Didnt make a huge difference in my eyes but he likes it
