CF hood clearcoat peeling

It's getting pretty bad in the fla sun, although my wing is perfect (Zaino great, cheap cf hood bad), anyways what's a fair price to get hood gently sanded and reclearcoated?

Sand it yourself, then just have a shop spray clear.

Save you lots of money, cause the most cost is in the labor.

I went to a few shops, and no one will touch it. They say it's a defect in the hood, and it will never look good with clearcoat. I was told my only option was to try to prime and paint it, which none of the shops I went to would do, because they wouldn't garantee it, so they wouldn't do it.

Any Ideas. I got the hood because I liked the CF. I'd hate to paint it and it go bad. I was told to get a new one, but this one was a PITA to get looking right originally, and all I read are bad stories from all the aftermarket cf hoods.

Those must've been some lousy shops if they didn't want to clear coat your hood. I say keep shopping around. If worst comes to worst...you can always do it yourself.

Don't own an evo but car has a CF hood that was looking cloudy or not shiny; except when it was wet such as after washing the car. I tried cleaning it with some Meguires paint cleaner and then polishing and wax. It helped a little but not much. I took it to a body shop that sanded it and re-clear coated it and it looked just like new. I was in the same boat as you thinking I was going to have to get it painted but the sand/clear coat did the trick. I paid $200 total.

+1

i'm about to get mine done too, cracking around the vent. If you know how to sand then do it yourself like folks said but find a shop, there's gotta be at least one down there that has some skill to do it.

Those shops are full of crap. Just like the wing you can re-clear coat it. Now it's hard to tell without pics, but you have a problem if the clearcoat marks turned yellow. If it's white that means crappy clearcoat, if the CF yellow - it means CF is going bad (actually already went bad) If it's yellow, re-clearcoating it won't help
