Shift Light Pros & Cons
The car comes with a wing stock, its functional, adds downforce(cancels some lift) and I think suits the looks of the car pretty well but to everybody who doesnt know that it just looks like some huge *** wing attached to an econobox, which means the masses define our car as childish.
I like the wing on some cars I don't on others, I'm not right and your not wrong just voicing my opinion.
As childish as that might seem thats the way it goes.

Well, I think people shouldn't be concerned with someone calling them names cuz they don't like a part on their car. Iv'e seen some dumb **** on cars but, to each his own. I had a wing on my old eclipse. This was before the fast and furious came out. Everyone thought it looked great. Then the movie came out and all of a sudden I became a ricer. They would talk **** at stop lights but most knuckleheads at the time couldn't keep up with 400hp. Alot of shat used to be cool until the movie came out.
if you want one then just buy one.. after all its your car.. I have been thinking about putting one in for a while what I finally have decided to do is install this one:http://item.express.ebay.com/Automet...mdZExpressItem
because its small and I can mount it inside my AC vent and just set it to 7400 then it will almost never go off or be noticed unless i'm at the track where I should have my eyes on the road the whole time

No. But if you were japanese driving an evo would be pretty normal and you would just be like a silly mustang owner over here, another guy with one of the domestic sports cars...

I didn’t think much in appearances that a Shift light would make, as long it is Not homemade and tacky looking. However to my surprise that there is this type of discussion about the”Ricy” look. As to now I am enlighten and this would help all in the decision making. I am new to this way of conversation and that I would like to learn from your experiences, however the candid conversation; though it borders to offensive remarks like “Chinese fried rice” it is a bit offensive. Some of you have a Shift light and to my opinion for now, it seems like it would be a Bonus to have such a Tool, and this would enhance as an ad to a higher level of operating this “Best handling car”.
Thanks for the Info! I don't knowingly take it up that High, but getting on the freeways at times with one eye peel on the road and the other glancing onto the little Tach; I see that it heading up that way. I wish there was a better indicator. I was told that the STi has it and the new one will be coming out with an audible chirp indicator when it approaches maximum RPM, but I have not confirm it yet. Tomorrow I will be at Kearny mesa, I plan to stop off Subaru dealership to check out their new cars, and if you don’t this, they are having a race team there with there to sign autographs and show off their powerful STi.

If your car is stock, you shouldnt worry about it. Get an exhaust and you'll be able to hear when you need to shift. But if youre that scared when youre driving, it think the best shift lights are the multi-stage ones. There are like 9 LEDs in a row...4 green 2 yellow then the last three flash red when you hit redline.

Hello all, I was concern about revving the engine pass the safe limit. Accordingly to research; the safety cutoff is set for an
Evo IX at 7800 RPM. I met a Cool member of the Allwheeljunkies name Ronald at Fusion in San Diego and he said that there is no need for a Shift light and all goes by the feel and/or glance at the Tach. My Question
is does anyone use one? What kind? How is it electrically connected to your system?
I have not found any Shift light discussions in the forum and wonder why, is it because they don’t work? Or is it that all street racers just ‘Peg’ it to the metal.
I like to know what you all got to say about.

I learned to drive manual in a fire truck that had no tach (it was old), so I learned to use my ears to figure out when to shift.....fast forward 5 years or so to when I bought my Dodge Dakota. Also, no tach, no problem. I still have it, with the same clutch and motor in it; 160,000+ miles on it (I did buy it used). Now to the Evo. I honestly don't even look at the speedo or the tach anymore. I do it all by ear, and it works out well. I do have a stock shift light in the Dakota. It's a green triangle in the lower left, and it annoys me. I find it actually takes my attention off of the road when it flashes. I put a piece of black electrical tape over it so I don't have to stare at it. So my opinion is, shift light=bad. You can drive your car by sound alone, and if that fails, the bigh tach in the dash will help.
