On LS1Tech alot of the guys have problems with the cutout's motor breaking... something to think about before you spend 4-600

Ya do know there are other brand out there. We on the other hand have 25,000 valves out in the market and doing quiet well. When installed correctly there are no issues. That is the reason we designed the down the way we did. No clearance issue with the ground or the chassis to prevent any problems. If anyone has any questions feel free to call us.

"Ya do know there are other brand out there."

I was talking about the QTP cutout. Not trying to bash or anything though, just letting fellow members know what I've seen on other boards.

Whats the warranty on these cutouts? Free replacement if the motor breaks?
1 year, 4 years?

i had read some negative stories about the reliability on the motors of cut out valves (QTP included) all seem to be complaining about the cost of replacment motors........ that was the reason ive been wary of these things....

am i correct in assuming the warranty program does not include the motor?

I will be ordering one of these downpipes real soon. Just need to get some more money together. But i had QTP electric cutouts on my previous cars. Never had an issue with it and worked very well. I spoke to them about a replacment motor when i was curious. They said its like $30 or so. That to me aint bad.

I have ran a few QTP cut outs on a few of my cars. They seem to hold up the best out of all of them.

I burnt up 2 motors, and didn't replace then next motor. Just use a bolted on plate to close/open it. 1st motor was replaced under warranty. 2nd, didn't want to mess with getting another one. I would drive it a while, and under normal driving, the "Flapper" would open on its own, gradually, till it was FULL OPEN. (within 2 miles). I can't complain, it sounds great with, or without the flapper working to the electric motor.

To be FAIR, I have the OLD model, not the one in the photo. The "new" version is probably fine, and stout. It sure looks like it.

What is the big secret about the warranty? You have to buy one to find out what the warranty is?

I thought the manufacturer designation on a screen name was so that a manufacturer could discuss relevant product info like this and not take it to PM like there is something to hide.

With me, I had to send back the WHOLE unit, "Y" pipe and all. I didn't want to do it, but they warrantied my motor anyway. I paid 40 for overnighting the motor, only to find out the replacement motor was about 30 beans. Once you got the thing in there, it is easy to get the motor out, but they wanted the WHOLE contraption sent back. Too much to ship, and too much of a pain to remove for a $30 motor. If the motor goes out, just get a new one instead of messing with the warranty. my opinion.

The motor started to weaken after a month on both. Normal RPM caused the flapper to open at will. Had to keep shutting it, only to have the exhaust pressure gradually open it again. But I must re-iterate, it was the OLD setup. Bought it last year. I don't have the down pipe extension deal like in the photo above.
