Might trade in my car for an Evo 9...
Hello everyone, my first post here !
I own a Civic type R and have purcheased an evo ix rs couple of weeks ago.
The only I got now is not the evo viii back when i got my type R 3 yrs ago
Yes hondas are extremely reliable and the mpg is good too, but there's nothing like AWD and the handling of the evos.
I still own the type R and use it frequently, but when I get in the evo - it's a whole different game !
Just like every other car, it you take care of it - it'll behave well, just like someone mentioned earlier, dont go overboard with the mods.
Ah well am planning mine already. Bottom line : GET IT !

the evo will be as reliable as any other well maintained japanese made vehicle (relatively speaking).. there were a couple of problems with the 03/04 evo's pertaining to the drivetrain that really only showed up after some abuse to the vehicle. the ix is a very solid vehicle. maintain it well and it will take care of you too.. that sounds like a reasonable price for that car. i got mine with 17.5k miles for 25k about a month ago. good luck
IMO RSX-S is only reliable when on its stock condition. I used to have an RSX-S turboed with 302whp and the tranny couldnt handle the abuse and lots of small issues. Now i got an evo i never regret it and its a big upgrade.
I hate Mitsubishi with a passion. But here I am owning an Evo 9. So far it's good. Very fun car to drive. You will regret for not get one sooner. The only draw back is very bad gas mileage compare to your RSX. Good luck with your decision.
It seems there are a lot of ex-Honda owners who jumped up to an Evo. I am also one of those, although I kept my del sol as I have turned it into my dedicated track car. As many posts in this thread have mentioned, the handling is amazing for a stock car. I'd have to say after having my IX for 8 months and 10.5K miles, the thing I am most impressed with is the handling. Corner exit speed is almost unmatched with most other vehicles, especially in the $30-$40K price range. I might get some flame for saying this but I do prefer the way a N/A vehicle feels around the track over a turbo. But that is just my personal preference. Here is all you need to know about why the Evo is so special: I have many monthly expenses/bills and the only one I gleefully look forward to paying is my car payment.

it's your choice between Reliable gas mileage or performance.. I used to own a scion tc and i never looked back.
You said ure getting a used one. Before i got my IXse I was looking at a TB Evo VIII SSL with 10-15K miles. A friend of mine told me that you won't know if the first owner did the proper break in right until some thing breaks with in the warranty period ( the dealer confirms the story)..You should know the owner of the car your buying that he didn't trashed it.Good luck on your purchase.
