Might trade in my car for an Evo 9...

I currently own a 2006 VBP Acura RSX Type-S. I'm debating whether to keep modding the Type-S or trade it in, part it out and break even with a used stock EBP Evo 9.
How reliable are Evo 9s? The only thing that stopped me from getting one was the engine management and reliability. I knew i couldn't go wrong in that respect with an N/A Honda but I'm rethinking the decision I made because someone local is selling his Evo at a very attractive price. How reliable is the Evo 9 and is there alot of known problems with them? Here's a couple shots of my car:

Thanks!

Evo's are very reliable hitting 25K miles on original clutch without a problem. I am not sure if you'll want to give up your good gas mileage with the Honda though. These little cars love to drink.

You'll be kickin yourself in the butt when you buy that Evo cuz you'll realize how much of a waste it was to get that RSX INSTEAD of the Evo. But they are very reliable cars as long as you take care of them. Just like any other car. And you can gain so much more power from simple bolt ons and minimal $$.

I've done nothing but put gas/oil/tires/ and brake pads on mine. Its 4.5 years old w/ 66k and has had 300+ whp since 5k miles. I'm still on the stock clutch. A civic owner wishes for reliability like I've had. I bought this car with major reservations about Mitsu, but its the best car I've EVER owned. Just my .02

There aren't a lot of known problems with new ones, but you never really know how a used one has been treated. I'd do a thorough inspection of a used one & get a test drive first. How many miles does the used Evo have? Are the original tires still in good shape?

Still, if it's an Evo IX it probably doesn't have too many miles on it. I'd just look for any obvious signs of abuse & drive it to see if anything jumps out at ya.

But yeah, I'd get the IX if I were in your shoes. It might be less comfy than your Acura, but the IX wasn't built for comfort. It was built to give the driver feedback. You'll feel every bump & love every minute of it LOL...

I got rid of my SC RSX Type-S and have never looked back. However I do miss having one of the first supercharged RSX around, infact my install write up is still used to this date. Get the EVO, nothing like AWD and the handling.

The Evo 9 has about 16,500 miles on it. Very low and he is asking 26,500 (which I can negotiate). He says it's never been modded and has always been stock. I'll definately take a look at it and drive it to see if there are any problems.

of course hondas are known for their reliablity but i'm sure with proper maintenance on the evo, it will go far. so if ur not too worried about gas mileage, then i'd say get the evo! i just got mine a month and a half ago and it is awesome!

You will get the evo and NEVER want another car. There's simply not much better out there. Although they have their niche. Their NOT the most comfortable car you'll drive, and there certinally not the most fuel efficient eaither. Choose whaat you want and go for it - don't let reliability be a factor.

Obviously your RSX would be more reliable as it is a Honda. With that it has no torque so it rarely breaks to begin with.

The Evo is by far a better performance car, the RSX a better Daily Driver.
