Glad to hear from someone who appreciates where the true performance advantages of the Evo can be realized.

I used to be a contract driving instructor at BSR. What kind of laptimes are you getting on the SPR circuit? Have you run your Evo on the Jefferson circuit and if so, what were your times there?

Big Al has mentioned running Lime Rock in the past but I'm not sure if that was in his WRX or the Evo, but he never posted any laptimes.

So, are you going to run an 11.9 today?

Congrats on the times.....i love seeing people pushing their cars

When it comes down to it these guys are goin all out. NoS or not.

They are contributing a wealth of knowledge to the community...making it easier for every1 else to choose their upgrade path.

And please dont hate on them for draggin the car. They know its a good all around performer. They just enjoy drag as a hobby (addiciton? lol).
Keep of the good work Gentlemen

I'm trying to crack 11's without spray, stock turbo, stock cams. I know I'm not gonna have the high mph like some of you other guys, but I'll be in the 11's.

BTW, I agree that side stepping the clutch or power shifting is bad. There's something about power shifting that bothers me, especially with a cable shifter. The Evo's shift action is quick enough in that you don't need to power shift it.
This I would like to see. You don't have the the power of AMS or Al, so the only way I think you can run 11s with less horsepower is to drive the **** out of the car. How's your transmission holding up, so far?

Both Al and AMS are making a lot more power than I am. I don't see my car making too much more than say 300whp right now. I do drive the **** out of the car. It's the only way to make a low hp car go fast.

My transmission is holding up well. I have faith in this car. Odometer is already past 12K miles.

I think I would need about 113.5 or so mph to crack 11.9. More power/MPH would be nice though.

It's great to see people trying new tnings and I praise all of you for trying that, but I really dont think nitrous is the way to go with a Evo VIII. I just think nitrous ruins the entire rally reputation and prestige that goes along with owning an Evo. But hit 11's all motor and thats impressive... by the way thats on the stock intercooler as well, so all of you people who say the IC isnt very good, this is proof the IC can hold over 400whp. Anyways, sorry Im not trying to be a dick, just sharing my own opinions.
How do you know the IC can hold over 400whp? At a show I heard teamdomokun was running 12.5s and yet he still claims he has the fastest Evo in the US. WTF?? And by the way how often do you drive your car, much less rally it?

Speaking from experience drag racing a DSM, you should be able to run 11s with 111mph trap speeds, if not 110. You'll be driving the ding-dong out of the car at those traps, but it'll get you that 11 second timeslip.

Just as an aside, since this thread is about drag racing, at Englishtown today the AMS Evo 2 ran 9.7 @ 145 or so.

111 you would need like a 1.58 60ft to go 11's... 113mph you can pull a 1.65 and get into the 11's... Is it' possible to go 11's at 111mph yes... but i don't see anyone pulling 1.5 60fts in these evo's

A mid to high 1.6 short time and a good 330 time with 111mph will get you an 11.9. Drive the car harder, it's what I did in my Galant.

I still haven't busted into the 1.6X 60 foots yet, but I'm thinking with a 1.65, maybe 112mph will do it (my Evo weighed 3400lbs, me in it, 3/8th tank of gas). DSM, with it's weight advantage, may crack 11's at 111mph, but I doubt an Evo will.

3400#??? are you out of your mind? drill some holes in the frame. take out the bumpers. scrape off that undercoating and sound deadening material. that thing's a pig, put it on a diet! ;-)
seriously though, crash the gears a bit, the redesigned tranny can take more abuse from what i've heard. with 118-120mph you should see as low as 11.5 with the proper weight reductions...

I need to trim fat out of my Evo. I always run with all kinds of **** in the trunk. I keep my tool box in there, along with all kinds of other unnecessary stuff, like bottles of water for the IC spray thing, and a gallon of washer fluid.

Next time out, I'm gonna try to run the car with an empty trunk, and less gas.
