Those with Vortex Gen/CF Shield

For those who use applications such as the CF shield or Vortex generator, did you just wash the area normally before applying or place some sort of solution down before apply the sticky tape?

Thanks...

just make sure you remove excess dust/dirt before you apply it. i washed/waxed the portion and used extra 3m sticky; been almost a year and still holds strong.

if you have waxed the area, use carb cleaner or paint thinner to remove the wax or some sort of wax remover to get the surface nice and clean for the tape

Hm, i put mine on in January.. I cleaned the surface very well and recently one side has been coming loose. I think i need to reapply some more double sided tape.

I used that OOPS spray aka goo gone. you can get it at wal mart it doesnt damage paint but it cleans everything off, its also great for bugs on the front bumper.

so you do or dont want wax to be below the fixture your putting on? I would think you'd want it waxed so it doesnt scratch, but maybe the tape wont hold as well?

Also to make the tape stick better heat it with a heat gun right before you put it on and it will never want to come off

So I got it on with just some body mounting tape and a clip or two- wow those clips are hard to get on!

I might have to redo it though, one piece isn't really flush with the bumper and its noticeable close up. Did you guys cover it all in tape or just a few pieces spaced out? (The CF Shield)

DO NOT use carb cleaner or paint thinner on your car. This will dissolve your paint in a hurry. LOL
