reverse is park also in a manual vehicle. it is more than ok to leave in gear when parking. thats any manual car. saabs wont let you take the key out unless it is in reverse.

My Dad had taught me to leave the car in gear, but I didn't start doing till later. Whenever my Dad borrows the Evo, I have to remember to put it Neutral before disengaging the clutch so now I leave it in gear.

I live in a town with lots of hills. So my cars are always in gear.

In 1st Gear, and just enough handbrake. If in any other Gears, includes reverse and without the handbrake, you risk the chance of vehicle moving.

A previous car of mine was an automatic. I disconnected the neutral start switch which allowed me to start the car in gear. It also allowed me to park and remove the keys with the car in neutral.

I was at the public library one evening when a sweet little old lady came up to me and asked, "Could you please move your car, I need to go home." Huh! So I went outside and saw that my car had rolled across the flat looking parking lot and was up against her bumper. So, cars will roll even when the surface looks flat.

I only put it in gear when I'm parked somewhere that could possibly be a theft area. The car in gear will make it harder for someone to flatbed my car! In addition to the alarm and club!

It depends...if I'm on any sort of incline or decline, I will. Still, I'll put the handbrake on and make sure the weight of the car is on it before I shift into gear and cut the ignition.
