MY bet is that he put $20k down on the car....and financed $10k.
It seems like an overly complicated deal to make though. a person would have to have $20k in cash, or take out 2 sep car loans, right?

But I don't think anyone can legally "take over" anyone elses payments, right? You would have to get a loan that equals his payout amount, then hand it over to him.
Where is this guy located again? CA? Another thing to consider is that if you are to take over his payments, you will have to EAT whatever amount over MSRP he had to pay for the car....and he probably did pay over MSRP if he lives out west. And with the fact that cars are becoming available in CA at or just below MSRP, this private party deal might not be such a deal.
Someone should call just for giggles to see what the deal really is....then post up!
