New Clutch ?

Well i have a 2006 IX MR, and its has 8900 miles on it and it seems like the clutch isnt grabbing as good as it used to. I'm going to put a new Intercooler and pipes as well as GSC S1 cams and a AMS tune, and i would like to be running 25 psi on 104 octane (after tune). i need a clutch that can handle some launches, duh. But my main reason for posting this is to see what you would recommend on brands or types. this will be my first time replacing a clutch in a evo and i dont know what to put in there? any help will be appreciated. thanks !

It sounds like you'll be putting down some decent power. The only advice I can say is stay away from spec. They are too new in the evo game and having one in my own car I am constantly praying everything is going okay down there. I would def recommend exedy or act. I would probably just say exedy twin disk, do it right the first time.

Your clutch should be just fine unless you drove the car very poorly. I have the same car and I have 21,000 miles with endless amounts of abuse. Over 100 drag passes.

ATS twin plates are supposed to be awesome. I think they're called Carbonetics now. They're a bit pricey, but those wear extremely slow since they're carbon. Plus they grab hella hard while maintaing the oem feel.

Driver Error. Stocker is fine. Otherwise get a heavier pressure plate.

The problem is not in the clutch, it's in the lines. CBRD told me that the restrictor pill causes some issues. You should also maybe get a SS clutch line. PITA, but may be worth it. Unless you really beat the **** out of the stock clutch. As long as it holds the power in 4th and 5th then it's not broken yet.

Floor your car and if the RPMS shoot up but your car isnt accelerating with the RPMS then your clutch is done for.

As far as a clutch goes, I'd recommend the exedy stage 1 or 2 from AMS or if u want plan on making serious power get the Twin Disc from AMS since you said your getting tunned their get your clutch from them aswell.

Im still on stock clutch and I got 16K miles and I race/launch all the time.

go get a 4-puck. that will eliminate any problems with it not grabbing enough. of course you probably won't enjoy your street driving as much.

i got a ss clutch line and installed it today. it seems much better as far as the clutch feel goes. i'm used to driving BMWs and ****, so the clutch pedal felt kinda ****ty to me. as far as the clutch, well this is my 5th manual trans car. so its not driver error. im going to continue launching me car at 5k and lets hope she lasts !
