Adding fog lamps

to all flamers : Yes Yes I have searched!
Has anyone been able to add fog lamps to a non-fog car?
I have a 2006 IX GSR. I have no problems with wiring issues.
Is it possible to fit foglamps into my headlights? Or is it so difficult
that buying new housings is a must? My IX housings are already blacked,
so to split the lamps just to see what is inside would be nuts.
Thanks for any yes/no answers or threads
Added- If anyone has a cracked IX non-fog housing that they can not use,
I would gladly pay shipping just so I can examine the housing to see if
I could figure a way to do this.

No, the IX GSR does not get fogs or HIDS unless it it has the SE package . The HIDS are easy enough to upgrade, but I can't find any positive yes or no on the fogs. Someone who has taken apart his headlamps to black them out must know if the upgrade is possible.

No, def no switch. I mounted the power block for my V-1 behind that switch blank.
The switch is not there, and there are blank plugs behind the fogs. I am good enough with electronics to figure wiring new fogs in. I just don't know whats inside the housing.

Double bump, I want to know the same thing. I already upgraded the low-beams to HID but I can't see how there can ever be fog lights installed in the housings that come in the non SSL IX GSR. Is it possible to upgrade to MR housings and have Mitsu hook up the fog lights?

From what I've heard, it's impossible or you can't add fog lights to the Evo models that does not already have it. The place where the fog lights are is not something that you can just pop out and add the fog light unit in. It's like a one piece unit and there's no way to get it out beside cutting it.

Oh man... So the only way is to buy someone's old headlights that had HID and fog light capabilities?

Yes they do, I have a IX and it's not a SE package and I have HID's and fogs. I am pretty sure there are a good number of others that will say the same. If you do not have HID's and fogs and you really want them I suggest you buy some IX headlamp assemblies from one of our vendors that does and just swap them. It should be a direct fit and since you said wiring is not an issue you should be good to go. Let us know what you find.

what??? non ssl either? I'm still searching for the answer; how did you install fogs? did you just buy an aftermarket kit and put them in? Everywhere else I've seen they have said that the IX gsr doesnt have fog lamps or whatever it needs

Does your car have the SSL package?(sunroof, infinity, and HID/fogs) Because according to mitsu's webiste the only way to get the fogs/HID's in the IX was either A, with the SSL package or B, with the SE package.

All 2003 Evo has HID but no fogs I believe.

HID and Fog are for the SSL package, MR and SE from 2004 and up.

and Kyooch, the only way to get Fog lights is to get a new housing. Since you have the IX I'm pretty sure there's quite a few that will want your lights. Sell them and get the JDM.

I don't think you have HID so you'll need a 9006 to 9005 connector.
