Will replacing one new tire mess up center diff?

I recently blew a tire and replaced it with a new one. One of my buddy's who also owns an Evo told me that if I didnt replace all four it would mess up the center diff. Is this true? Oh the other three tire have 10K on them.

you should replace 2 fronts or 2 backs depending on the thread ware diffrence between the new tire and the old tire, if its not that big it shouldnt really make a diffrence

I had a back right tire go flat on me after only 2000 miles. In that case i didn't hesitate to just replace one because (as others have said) there wasn't a significant tread wear difference. I think if it's about 1/32" your fine and 1/16" and above you should consider replacing at least two at a time. Keep in mind that if you don't replace it with the same tire as the rest you'll have to remember the replacement may wear down at a different rate too.

There is a gauge that most tire shops have out there that will measure tread depth, they'll do it for free and tell you whether or not you need a new one. Tirerack will also sell you a shaved tire for i think about 20 bucks extra.

yes at 10k miles dont replace w/ a brand new. possibly u may luck out by finding a used advan with similar mileage and wear.

if u got a nail, it can be repaired (although not track friendly anymore) depending on where. sidewall damage is unsafe to drive, while tread damage is very repairable.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^That's a fact, Jack. I have plugged many a tire and they ride just fine, but then again I don't track my car either.

Not trying to hijack the thread. But I was wondering, what if you have coilovers on. However, the ride height on each corner might be slightly different. Would that cause any damage to your drivetrain or anything?
