Well i just bought a used evo and the third gear grinds a bit when i put it in gear. there is no real loud grind i can just fell it on the shift knob only wehn going into 3rd. If i push in the clut and hold it for a second and then shift really slow it will not grind most of the times. if i'm in 4th and downshift to third it goes in smoothly, it also goes in smoothly when i'm in third put it in neutral and the back in third, the slight grind only happens from 2nd to 3rd. i'm really worried about this. i live in houston,tx and was wondering what dealership would be the best or if anyone one knows of a good shop in area. my car as aem short ram intake and a boost gauge, hopefully this will not have voided warranty.

 

Have you changed your fluids since you bought the car? If not, do it now. If the problem still exists after that, it's probably your 3rd gear synchro. There may be a TSB for third gear. I know there is one for 4th. The AEM SRI would cause most district reps to not cover your car under warranty. Try to find a stock intake if you want Mitsu to work on your tranny for free.
