Having to pay for warranty work!
Okay so I took my car in to get some work done, I have an 03 and it has 94xxx miles on it. I have the extended warranty which will cover up to 100,000 miles/6 years. Anyways, my rear differential is leaking from the seal. This is covered under warranty, I called and asked the warranty company themselves. Well Mitsubishi is charging 9.1 hours of labor while the warranty company will only pay for 6.1 hours of labor because the book that they go by says it will only take that long to fix. Both the dealership and the warranty company said the difference is what I have to pay. My clutch, flywheel, and exhaust is about the only modification I left on the car (Fidelity Warranty Services said that those modifications won't effect rear differential) oh yeah, FWS said that my greddy blow-off vavle was an aftermarket wastegate so they wont fix my 4th gear grind. Has anybody else encountered this problem? What can I do? Suggestions and comments appreciated.
Mitsu is retarded... Always has been. Raise hell is right... you will get your way. Go into the showroom and ***** about their absolutely horrible customer service, lack of warranty work, ect... it will drive away customers and you will get your way

The Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (which is what I think you meant) only applies to manufacturer, factory warranties. It does not cover 3rd party, extended "warranties" like the original poster has. Extended "warranty" companies can put whatever restrictions they want in their policies including limits on repair costs and times and restrictions on operating conditions and replacement parts.
I put the "warranty" in extended warranty in quotes because in reality, it's not a warranty that the 3rd party extended "warranty" company is selling you. Instead it's a kind of insurance policy, usually complete with deductibles, that covers a limited number of breakdown scenarios. What is covered and what is not is very specifically covered in the extended "warranty" policy

Okay, I got an update for you guys. I called Mitsubishi this morning and told them I didn't want them to fix my car anymore, they were aggravated but who the hell cares. I went to pick up my car and paid their diagnostic bill. Then I took my car to an independent Mitsubishi specialist and have them do the work under warranty. I called them ahead of time to check if they will work with the extended warranty company and they did. I also asked them how long it would take them to complete this job and their computer says it shouldn't take them no longer than 5.8 hours. So this means the extended warranty company is paying for the repair in full. Okay now I can breathe, I will post another update after I get my car back.
It sounds like everybody was trying to screw you over there, a warranty company should pay for the entire repair - your deductable. And mitsubishi sounds like they are overcharging like crazy. I deal with this stuff from time to time, we had one warranty company that wouldn't pay for diagnostic time, fluids, tax, seals, and other assorted stuff, they would only pay 41 dollars an hour labor (the going rate here is AT LEAST 70) and would not pay for anything if the shop did not get the repair approved before looking at the car. Some of the places are just looking to give you the raw dog.
Yeah, unless **** is factory warranty and the service department has to electronically submit the claim to the processing department, they usually raise labor and parts costs, and try and get the warranty company to pay the overcharge, just like they would if the work were customer pay. They can't do this with factory warranty because the processing department will flag the claim and not pay it. Just don't be a ***** and you can generally talk them down.
Lol, I only had 7k or around there on mine when 3rd started grinding and they did not want to fix it under warranty.
I told them I would never buy another car from them again and they fixed it under warranty lol..
(Makes my second car from them in 2 years)
DOwnside to it was they had it for a month and a half.......

I got my car back last Friday. Had to pay $100 deductible and thats it. I know I'm never going back to the Mitsubishi dealership again. For those with extended warranty, try taking your car to an independent repair shop to see if they work with your warranty company or not. Could be saving yourself alot of time/money/headaches by not going back to the dealership.
