Anyone hear this noise before?

So my car was fine and then all of a sudden started to make some noises underneath.. so I looked into it and found it was the dp hitting the underbrace. I took both of them off and everything sounded fine... no clunks

However, every once in a while I still hear the noise. I'm sure that these braces were the main cause of the noise as it immediatley changed after they were removed. However in the rare situation (feels like when the suspension drops a bit over a dip) I hear the clunk.

It sounds as if its coming from the front driver's side wheel.. anyone have any ideas?

When I first got my TBE, the DP used to move around and hit the underbraces as well. So I decided to put Kartboy exhaust hangers on, and the movement went away. No more clunking from under the car every since.

I thought those exhaust hangers were for the CB? Did it effect how the DP mounted?

Those hangers replace all stock hangers from DP to muffler.

I did the hangers as well...and worth every penny as I had heard about the rubbing issues on some DP's. Crawl under the car and check clearance....if its close it likely bangs with suspension movements...The Kart boy hangers minimize the exhaust travel because they are urethane not rubber like oem...so when they are in place the exhaust stays in place.

This is what I was looking for. Thank you. I'm thinking this might be my problem as I've already removed both of the braces. It does appear that when the suspension drops it makes this noise. Where should I check how close it is and what do you think it's hitting on if the braces are gone?

Also, the stock hangers stretch with a TBE and will hang lower since they're usually heavier and bigger than the stock unit. But, when you put the Kartboy hangers on, it won't stretch like the stock rubber ones. Therefore, you should have more clearance between the DP and underbraces.

CB = Cat-Back
TBE = Turbo-Back Exhaust
DP = Downpipe

It can also hit the t-case. BTW, which DP do you have?

Yeah, check the clearance of the transfer case. Just use longer bolts and washers for the tie bars.

I've got the XS-Engineering downpipe which truly does have a great fit. It was the weirdest thing because I had an underbrace on for 1k miles and then it started making the noise... must have hit a bump and maybe it got adjusted or something.

I was worring about the transfer case. Don't want to cause any damage to that! I will check it out. How far is yours from the transfer case?
